Sir Jim Ratcliffe will urge Erik ten Hag to end his dispute with Jadon Sancho upon completing his purchase of a 25 per cent stake of Manchester United, according to reports.

The petrochemicals billionaire is on the cusp of finalising a deal to buy a share of the club, which will see him take over football operations from the Glazer ownership to the tune of £1.3billion.

Mail Sport reported on Sunday that those with knowledge of the situation say that it is likely that the agreement could be announced next week, almost a year after the Glazers announced the club was for sale.

While a range of issues await Ratcliffe – from the noticeable state of disrepair of the stadium to improving upon a dismal start to the season on the pitch – the feud between Ten Hag and his player is thought to be considered one of the INEOS head’s priorities.

According to the Daily Star, Ratcliffe is keen to set up talks between the Dutch manager and the England international to end the stand-off that has seen Sancho frozen out of the senior squad for over two months.

Sancho has been training and eating separately from his senior team-mates, and forced to use the academy facilities after effectively calling his manager a liar on social media.

The player claimed that he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ by Ten Hag and implied his manager was lying when the former Ajax head coach said that he had failed to pick Sancho to travel in his matchday squad to face Arsenal due to his ‘performances in training’.

Ratcliffe is believed to be concerned about how relations between Sancho and Ten Hag have declined, with the manager taking a hard line in awaiting a sincere apology from the £73m player before allowing him back into the fold.

The incoming stakeholder is also thought to have an eye on Sancho’s plummeting value the longer he is sidelined from the senior side, with the former Dortmund star having not played since August.

Mail Sport reported on Tuesday that Juventus was among the clubs keen to court the player should he become available during the January transfer window, with a loan move viewed favourably.

However, even if Sancho left on loan, United would most likely have to subsidise a portion of his £275,000-a-week wages.

Saudi Pro League sides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal could also be chosen as destinations in the upcoming window, although Sancho would prefer to stay in Europe at this stage of his career if possible.

Another key priority for Ratcliffe will be whether to change high-ranking personnel, with chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough believed to be the most vulnerable.
