England captain Harry Kane poses with country and western singer Ella Langley at her gig in Kansas City

Harry Kane attended a country and western concert in preparation for England’s second World Cup match – but he missed the final three songs because of Thomas Tuchel’s curfew.

The skipper joined defender Dan Burn and training goalkeeper Jason Steele at the Ella Langley gig at the Cable Dahmer Arena near Kansas City.

Kane is a big country fan and, after missing out on seeing Langley in Florida earlier this month, he got to meet the 27-year-old in person on Friday night.

Burn revealed: ‘I know Harry is a big fan. We’ve got a record player in the hotel and he did a captain’s pick with a lot of his country music. Ella was playing in West Palm Beach when we were there, but we wouldn’t have got back for the curfew, so I’m glad that we got another opportunity.

‘Harry and Steely got to meet Ella before the gig as well. I turned up a little bit later. It was great, but we missed the last three songs because we had to be back for curfew, which I was a bit gutted about – those were her three best!’

Burn added: ‘I was the only person who was suited and booted with a cowboy hat and jeans and all that. Luckily, there’s no photos kicking about! I went and got kitted out. I thought, if you’re going to do it, do it properly.

‘She is an amazing country artist. It was nice that we got to do those things and then focus back on the football. But I wouldn’t call it a “night out”, we’ll stop that!’

Kane posted a photo with Langley on social media, with the caption: ‘Great to meet you Ella. Thank you for having us – amazing show, keep smashing it.’

England face Ghana in Boston on Tuesday on the back of Wednesday’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening group game.
