Thomas Tuchel has publicly criticised England's fans despite a comfortable 3-0 win over Wales

Thomas Tuchel hit out at ‘silent’ England fans as he criticised the Wembley atmosphere despite his team’s 3-0 win over Wales.

Goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka in the first 20 minutes gave the Three Lions a comfortable victory in the friendly on Thursday.

But a frustrated Tuchel took aim at England fans inside the stadium, accusing them of failing to back the team in a bizarre post-match interview.

‘The stadium was silent,’ Tuchel said on ITV. ‘We never got any energy back from the fans.

‘Yeah (I was expecting more from Wembley tonight). If you just hear Wales fans…it’s a bit sad. The team deserved big support today.’

The comments will no doubt be met with anger among England supporters, some of whom paid as much as £80 to be at Wembley for the friendly with Wales.

Tuchel’s side were rampant early on and effectively had the game won after their three goals inside 20 first-half minutes.

Asked whether he expected more from the fans given the fast start, Tuchel said: ‘Yes.

‘What more can you give in 20 minutes? We didn’t let them escape. If you hear just Wales fans for half an hour, it’s sad because the team deserved more support today.’
