Trent Alexander-Arnold almost issued the perfect response to being snubbed from Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.
There was no room for the Real Madrid right back in the Three Lions’ 24-man shortlist for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
Instead, Tuchel opted for Chelsea star Reece James as the only natural right back in his squad.
After leaving Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, Alexander-Arnold has failed to catch fire in the Spanish capital thus far and has recently been dropped for Dani Carvajal.
However, on Saturday, he returned to Xabi Alonso’s starting XI for Los Blancos’ LaLiga game against Mallorca.
Just six minutes into the affair, he provided what would have been an early contender for ‘Assist of the Season’, but was agonisingly denied by the linesman.

Trent Alexander-Arnold provided a sensational assist to Kylian Mbappe on Saturday night

The moment came just a day after the Real Madrid star was snubbed from the England squad
From behind the halfway line, Alexander-Arnold bent a curling pass around three players into the path of Kylian Mbappe.
The French striker finished coolly, only for his goal to be ruled offside.
Alexander-Arnold went on to put in his best performance of the season so far and was withdrawn in the 72nd minute for Dani Carvajal.
Having gone down 1-0 early on in the game, Real clawed their way back to win 2-1, thanks to two first-half goals in quick succession from Arda Guler and Vinicius Jr.
The 2024-25 LaLiga runners-up extended their perfect record in the league this season, making it three wins from three to move top of the table.
Rivals Barcelona also boast a 100 per cent win record this term but are yet to play this weekend. They travel to Rayo Vallecano for their final match before the international break.
