Ukraine midfielder Georgiy Sudakov has shared a video showing the harrowing ordeal his family endured when his apartment in Kyiv was bombed with his wife and child inside.

Sudakov is on loan at Benfica from Shakhtar Donetsk, with the Portuguese club having an obligation to sign him permanently next summer.

The 23-year-old is living in Portugal but his family remain in Ukraine, who have been at war with Russia since 2022.

Shakhtar players have been living in Kyiv given that the club are unable to play in their home stadium in Donbas.

This week Kyiv has been targeted by Russia, with Sudakov’s family amongst those caught up in the ordeal.

Sudakov’s wife Yelyzaveta, their child Milana, 3, and his mother are all currently in Kyiv.
