Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he will join Major League Soccer following his departure from AC Milan this summer.

The World Cup winner, 37, is set to join his former France teammate Hugo Lloris at Los Angeles FC, the club owned by Hollywood legend Will Ferrell.

‘The next two games will be my last for Milan,’ Giroud confirmed on Monday.

‘My career will continue in MLS. I’m very proud of everything I’ve done here at Milan across three seasons. It’s the right time to announce it.

‘I’m a bit emotional,’ Giroud continued. ‘My story with Milan ends this year. But Milan will forever remain in my heart.’

Giroud’s contract with LAFC is expected to run until December 2025, with previous reports claiming he will earn $3.2million a year with the MLS club.

The Frenchman had been linked with a move to both Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in Europe before he decided on the United States.

LAFC currently sits fifth in the MLS Western Conference, having won five of its 12 games this season – including a 3-0 win over Vancouver last time out.
