Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer has left the club by mutual consent, the Welsh side have confirmed.

The 33-year-old forward, who signed from AFC Wimbledon in January 2022, departs having scored 46 goals in 156 appearances during a successful spell at the STōK Cae Ras.

‘I’d like to wish Ollie all the best,’ Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said of Palmer.

‘He’s been great for us over the last three-and-a-half years, and it’s a good opportunity for him now to go and get first-team football again – as well as move back closer to his family.’

Palmer has now completed a move to League Two side Swindon Town, where he has signed a two-year deal.

He said: ‘I’m really excited to sign for a club of Swindon’s stature. The ambition here is clear, and I want to play my part in helping the team push up the table and compete for promotion.

‘I’m looking forward to meeting the lads, working with the Manager, and getting started in front of the fans at the County Ground.’

Palmer hit the spotlight last year when he made a cameo in the Deadpool & Wolverine movie alongside Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds.

The striker scored 16 goals in just 26 games during his first season to help Wrexham to a second-place finish in the National League.

He went on to score 17 more the following year as the club sealed a record-breaking title win.

The striker continued to play a vital role following promotion to the EFL, striking eight times in League Two and adding a further three goals in League One, contributing to Wrexham’s remarkable rise through the leagues.

His final outing proved a fitting farewell – stepping off the bench to score twice in stoppage time before converting in the penalty shoot-out of a stunning Carabao Cup comeback win over Hull City.
