He gasped and moved away from the spot immediately.
A reporter who was on camera covering a story about the disappearance of a 13-year-old teenager in the Mearim River in Brazil, had a shock when he may have stepped on the teenager’s body in the water.
After a video of the scene went viral, authorities resumed their search and recovered the teen’s body from the river in the Maranhao state of Brazil, on Jun. 30, according to Brazilian media.
Stepped on body while reporting
A clip on social media showed the reporter, Lenildo Frazao, taking off his shoes and jeans and going into the water to demonstrate its depth.
He was covering a story about a teen, named Raissa, who at the time was believed to have drowned in the river while taking a dip with friends.
As Frazao was speaking into his microphone in the chest-high murky water, he let out a gasp and moved away from the spot.

“I think there’s something here at the bottom of the water,” he said in Portuguese, as translated by Brazilian newspaper Correio Braziliense.
He added nervously, “No, I’m not going, I’m scared.”
Missing girl found
After the video gained traction online, the Maranhao military fire department resumed their search on Jun. 30 and located Raissa’s body, Metropoles reported.
It was then handed over to police and an autopsy was conducted.
Investigations found that the cause of death was accidental drowning, with no foul play detected.
The discovery of the teen’s body led her school to declare three official days of mourning.
Friends and family also reportedly organised a vigil in her honour.
