On Mar. 4, 2024, China began its annual “Two Sessions” gathering in Beijing.
The annual meeting is expected to last several weeks and will be attended by thousands of politicians and lawmakers, including China’s President, Xi Jinping.
The gathering is known as “Two Sessions”, as there will be two major political meetings by the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
One attendee at the gathering is former National Basketball Association (NBA) star Yao Ming.
An X (formerly Twitter) user posted a picture of Yao attending the ongoing NPC session.

With his towering height of 2.29m, Yao was seen sitting alone in his own row in the photo.
According to the Telegraph, Yao was there with some 3,000 representatives from around China, including politicians, rural Communist Party members and university professors.
He attended the opening ceremony of the second session of the 14th NPC.
Yao’s daughter, Yao Qinlei, recently raised eyebrows for being nearly as tall as her famous father, at just 13.
