Abroad
The woman reportedly did not give up beyond her initial message, but he turned her down.
Turns out a glow-up can do wonders, including bringing back an old Tinder connection, for a man in Malaysia.
In a Dec. 4 post on social media platform Threads, Putra Jalil said that his date left him after a 15-minute meetup at Starbucks in 2019.
When he eventually lost weight in 2021, she reportedly re-appeared and pursued him via social media.
Woman left halfway, blocked and unmatched him
Recounting the incident, Putra said that the woman had left him in the middle of the date after she said that her grandmother had passed away.
She later blocked him on WhatsApp and unmatched him on Tinder.
However, she reportedly came back in 2021 after he slimmed down and messaged him on Instagram.
In her message, shared by Putra in his post, she had asked him if “there’s still a chance” for them “to continue what” they “once had”.
She also said that her “head wasn’t in the right place at the time”.

In light of her return, Putra wrote: “The purpose of my story is just to give a real life example of how people treat you differently based on how you look. That beauty privilege is real.”

Woman keeps pursuing him
The woman reportedly did not give up beyond her initial message.
She also purportedly texted him on WhatsApp in May 2025, asking him how he is doing and saying that she “misses” him.

Putra shared their exchange in another post on Dec. 8, which documented the woman explaining herself when she left him mid-date in 2019.
She admitted that her grandmother had passed away “a long time ago”, and that she was “just a little surprised” as he wasn’t “exactly what” she “imagined”.
“Now I’m here to explore what we could have had years ago,” she added.
Putra retorted, saying that he had used his “real photos”.

He also noted that she had only reached out to him after he lost weight.
He wished her well, but told her that he is “just currently not looking to be in a relationship”.

“People’s treatment towards me changed”
In an earlier post on Nov. 14, Putra said that he had gone from 104kg to 74kg.
“No bullshit. Just pure commitment and discipline,” he wrote, adding that he “still enjoys eating”.

In a Dec. 9 post, Putra noted “very much” has changed after he lost weight.
“People’s treatment towards me changed. People actually listen to me when I speak. And my opinions matter more now,” he said.
He added that he has also built “more connections than ever”, and that he has built his own “legacy and fitness community from scratch”.
“I feel better, fitter and healthier. Alhamdulillah.”

He also said that he took four months to lose weight, same as his brother’s weight-loss journey.
“Lots of ups and downs. We’re just glad we didn’t quit.”
