The driver did not accept the S$10 his passengers offered him.
A Singapore taxi driver who had to clean up vomit in the rear of his taxi on Dec. 21, 2025 alleged that his seemingly intoxicated passengers who vomited refused to compensate him.
According to the driver who wanted to be known as Sam, the vomit spilled all over the right rear seat.
His daughter sent Mothership details of the incident which were posted on Facebook, also claiming that the passengers called him a “beggar”.
Pickup
Sam, who is in his late 50s, picked up two passengers in the wee hours of Dec. 21.
According to the Facebook post, he then dropped them off at How Sun Drive at 4:02am, but not before they puked in the back seat.
However, the passengers reportedly refused to compensate Sam for cleaning up their vomit.
In addition, they allegedly verbally abused him by calling him a beggar and offered to pay only S$10 for the ride.
However, Sam said he “swallowed his pride” and did not accept the S$10 especially since he was called a “beggar”.
Loss of income
He added that the security personnel on night duty witnessed the mess when he asked for water in cleaning it up.
In light of the incident, Sam said this resulted in a loss of income for his family as he could not pick up more passengers for the night.
His daughter told Mothership that he spent at least 45 minutes cleaning up the vomit.
Being a taxi driver is one of two jobs that Sam works to support his family of seven, according to his daughter.
She added that her father who drives a ComfortCab Prius Hybrid works to support her studies abroad as well as to support her brother through medical school.
He has been a taxi driver for over two years, she said, adding that her father works six days a week from 8am to 8pm.
“I’m not ashamed of what my dad does,” she told Mothership.
She added: “In fact why should I be ashamed of someone who tries his best in life to provide his children the best?
“I am beyond grateful to call him my dad, and I hope people in this world can also have a bit more empathy and compassion and not be so quick to judge.”
Following Sam’s Facebook post, the two passengers have not reached out to him as of Dec. 22.
Sam emphasised in his Facebook post that people should not abuse taxi drivers.
“Driving taxi is a decent job too.”
