A 56-year-old Singaporean man in Jasin, Melaka, has been remanded for five days till Sep. 6 on suspicion of molesting his stepdaughter.
The order was issued on Sep. 2 by Magistrate Mazana Sinin, for the suspect to assist in investigations under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, The Star reported.
Victim’s sister claimed she experienced something similar with the suspect
Citing police sources, The Star reported that the case came to light after a quarrel took place between the victim and her sister at their home in Kampung Ayer Baruk, Jasin.
During the quarrel, the victim, now 15-years-old, alleged that she was molested by the suspect at 11:30pm on Jun. 27 2023.
On the same day, the victim also told her mother, 56, what had happened.
The victim’s 17-year-old sister later claimed that she also had a similar experience with the suspect sometime earlier this year.
Suspect was arrested on Sep. 1
According to The Star, the victim, who is the youngest of five siblings, proceeded to file a police report against the suspect at the Jasin Police Station at about 1pm on Sep. 1.
Following the report, a team from the Melaka police headquarters (IPK) arrested the suspect on the same day.
