Investigators traveled from Arizona to Florida to meet with laboratory scientists as the search for Nancy Guthrie continues, police said.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department provided the update Friday evening, saying officials met with the scientists “to see what more could be done to advance the case.”
Nancy, the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for nearly nine months after vanishing from her Tucson, Arizona, home.
“A number of ideas were discussed, and we continue to work with all of our partners to solve this case,” the department said, while urging the public to keep submitting tips as the investigation remains active.
“Even the smallest piece of information could be critical to the investigation,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.
The 84-year-old visited the home of her other daughter, Annie, on January 31 at about 5:30 p.m. She returned to her own house around 9:45 p.m.
Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, drove his mother-in-law home and is believed to be the last person to see her. He told police that he watched Nancy enter through her garage door.
At approximately 1:45 a.m. on February 1, Nancy’s doorbell camera was disconnected from the front of her home. Minutes later, the device detected a person, but that video footage is unavailable.

Nancy, the mother of Today Show star Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for nearly nine months since she disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home
Police previously said another video showed a masked figure tampering with the camera. At about 2:30 a.m., Nancy’s pacemaker became disconnected from her phone and Apple Watch.
Friends became concerned later that morning when Nancy failed to attend church, something they described as highly unusual for her.
About an hour later, relatives went to her home, found that she was not there and called 911 to report her missing.
In the days that followed, the sheriff’s office held several news conferences while Nancy’s family made emotional appeals for information.
Savannah traveled to Arizona to support her siblings before publicly addressing the disappearance in an Instagram post.
In the video, a visibly distressed Savannah sat beside her sister Annie and brother Camron as they pleaded for their mother’s safe return.
She also addressed anyone who might be holding her mother, saying, “We are ready to talk,” but only if the family received genuine proof of life—not AI-generated images or videos of Nancy.
Savannah has since returned to New York City and resumed her role on the show.

In early April, FBI agents found what they described as “potentially critical” new DNA evidence at Nancy’s home.
Sources previously told ABC News that agents sent the sample to a private laboratory in Florida for testing.
NewsNation previously reported that hairs found inside Nancy’s property were among the newly discovered evidence being examined.
Ransom notes have also surfaced during the investigation, including one that claimed to contain video of Nancy’s killers.
The footage referenced by an anonymous man in the correspondence was reportedly captured on the day Nancy disappeared.
The writer claimed that two people had kidnapped Nancy and said he possessed video of “the main guy” with Guthrie, stored on a hidden phone. Nanos dismissed the note.
“I think the FBI has done a number of arrests for false or fake ransom notes. It’s a shame that that happens, but I think we’re looking at another one of those today,” Nanos said in an interview with local radio station KVOI AM 1030.
“It is a shame that these types of events occur; people have great interest… that’s good because it helps us, but then it gets really abused.
“People who call in fake ransom notes, people who make claims for the sake of the media and the family, they get out and disturb, in this case, an entire neighborhood,” he added.
In June, a large-scale search for Nancy was launched in Mexico.
At about 1:45 a.m. on February 1, Nancy’s doorbell camera was disconnected from her front door. Minutes later, it detected a person, while another video showed a masked figure tampering with the device
The search followed an anonymous tip to a local volunteer group claiming that Nancy’s alleged grave had been discovered, according to a report.
The leader of the Buscando Corazones collective in Nogales said the information concerned Nancy, local outlet El Imparcial reported.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said it was aware of the reports but had not been contacted by Mexican authorities.
“The investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on credible information,” the office said.
According to the report, the Buscando Corazones collective has previously located more than 25 unmarked graves in the area.
