Liverpool’s performance was not an easy one to assess.
The statistics offered little encouragement for the Reds. Andoni Iraola’s team, for example, failed to register a single shot on target.
Yet anyone who watched the match will have seen a very different side to Liverpool. The Reds created plenty of attacking disorder, especially during the opening half, and repeatedly unsettled Arsenal.
What let them down was their execution in the final third.

Liverpool produced a host of promising attacks, only for them to unravel at the decisive moment. Bradley Barcola was among those guilty of failing to turn a dangerous move into a finished chance.
That has been a recurring theme throughout Liverpool’s campaign. Despite possessing such an imposing attacking threat, they have scored only 11 goals in nine Premier League matches.
If they can sharpen their finishing, a rapid rise up the table could follow.
Even so, Iraola and his players have plenty of positives to build on.
