Barcelona defender Hector Fort could depart the club this summer as he has attracted interest from multiple teams, with Mallorca reportedly among his main suitors. The LaLiga side is set to face Barcelona in the opening match of the season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Fort’s future remains uncertain. The 19-year-old wants consistent playing time this season but currently sits behind Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia in the right-back hierarchy. His position in the squad became even more complicated after he was disciplined by head coach Hansi Flick last month for arriving late to medical tests.
Flick acknowledged Fort’s solid pre-season performances but made it clear he would not guarantee minutes to any player. The coach stated that the squad’s depth—26 players including four goalkeepers—means competition for places will remain intense.
Fort has made 30 first-team appearances, 20 of them under Flick last season, totaling just 682 minutes of play. With Kounde and Garcia favored at right-back, his opportunities could decrease further in the coming campaign.
Reports of a potential transfer come shortly after earlier claims that Fort had been assured of a first-team role this season. While Mundo Deportivo has not ruled out him staying—especially after Inigo Martinez’s departure to Al-Nassr—Barcelona remain open to sales as they continue working within LaLiga’s financial limits.
The club does have some flexibility after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s surgery, which will sideline him for months, allowing them to register Joan Garcia. They are also finalizing the registration of Marcus Rashford, who has joined on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed confidence earlier this week in securing the registration of both Garcia and Rashford before the league season begins. He confirmed that LaLiga has already approved Garcia’s registration following his €25 million move from Espanyol.
