Sinbad said he’s returning to the stand-up stage career, nearly five years after he was sidelined by a stroke.
The 69-year-old comic-actor was seen in an Instagram clip Wednesday telling fans he was excited about a pair of sold-out shows at the Comedy Ice House in Pasadena, California.
‘It’s just the beginning of me coming back,’ the Benton Harbor, Michigan-born star said in the clip of the performances (one of which was slated for Wednesday, with the other on May 10).
Sinbad, whose real name is David Adkins, explained the setbacks he’s overcome amid his health struggle, as he’s been using a wheelchair amid health setbacks.
‘I can’t walk – since the stroke in 2020, I have not been on stage,’ said Sinbad, who appeared in films such as 1996’s Jingle All the Way and 1995’s Houseguest. ‘I’m so looking forward to these shows.
‘I got so much stuff to talk about. I’m gonna be talking more trash than I ever talked.’

Sinbad said in the caption of the post, ‘Some moments you don’t rush. You just wait until they’re ready. Tonight is one of those moments.’
‘Thank you @theicehousecc for making this homecoming possible. Can’t wait to see y’all tonight. It’s been a long time coming.’
He added to his fans in the clip, ‘I thank you for all the prayers that people prayed for me – it worked.’
Sinbad said in the clip, ‘I’m coming back to the stage – and I’m bringing family with me. First time sharing the mic with my daughter, comedian [Paige Bryan], alongside my longtime opener Chase Anthony.’
The entertainer, who played the role of Coach Walter Oakes on A Different World, said his daughter ‘talks more trash than I talk.’
On her Instagram page, Bryan said being involved in her dad’s comeback shows were ‘bigger than [she] can fully comprehend.’
She said, ‘Tonight, I’m opening for the man, the myth, the legend himself. My daddy makes his return back to the stage at the legendary Ice House.’
Bryan opened up about the challenges her parent has faced amid his health woes.

‘Since starting comedy, my dad has only been able to watch me perform twice,’ she said. ‘Mainly due to the fact that MOST clubs are not ADA accessible so he literally can’t get in there.
