How to look good in a heatwave: From a serum formulated to cool your skin to 'anti-ageing spoons' for eye bags, a depuffing energy mask and the ultimate freshening shampoo, KATHERINE SPENLEY's unmissable tips

What does your week look like? I’m tempted to cancel all my plans and hover by the yoghurts in my local Waitrose – its chiller aisle being the coldest place I know.

But instead I’ll be heading out and about as usual, braving the Tube – and feeling grateful for the office air-con. So how to keep cool, and look less flustered than you might feel, when the temperature starts with a three?

First things first, skin prep. I discovered Elemental Herbology’s Pause & Renew (£60, elementalherbology.com) serum during our last heatwave – it’s specially formulated to cool menopausal skin, which means it’s great at handling flushed faces. It’s also hydrating, feels silky and sinks in really easily.

Another fridge favourite is a Cryo De-Puffing mask by 111 Skin (111skin.com). At £100 for a box of five, they’re expensive, but they’ll help if you’re feeling puffy before a summer party.

Next, a new discovery for me – ‘Cryotherapy Spoons’ from French anti-ageing brand, Nooance (now £51.20, johnbell croyden.co.uk). They’re filled with liquid and, when chilled, the silver bowls feel properly cold. You roll them over your face so they hug the contours of cheeks, eyes and jowls. Don’t expect miracles, but they help if you’ve woken up with extra eye bags.

SPF is, of course, essential. I love Beauty Pie Featherlight UVA/UVB SPF 50 Sunscreen + Primer (£29, beautypie.com) for my face, and La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF 50+ (£15.75, boots.com) for my body.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who won’t be wearing any foundation this week – instead I’ll turn to my favourite Naked Sundays Cabana Glow SPF Serum in Illuminating (now £25.60, cultbeauty.co.uk) for a little coverage and a youthful glow.

Only the most beauty-committed will be braving a blow-dry – and I won’t be among them.

I’ll be washing my hair daily,

so will chuck a bottle of Head & Shoulders Menthol Fresh (£5, sainsburys.co.uk) into my trolley.

The anti-dandruff formula will keep my scalp clear of any build-up from a hat, while the menthol will feel fabulous.

A dollop of JVN’s brilliant air dry cream (£24, spacenk.com) on the lengths and the ends of my hair and I’ll be good to go.
