Jo Wood reveals she struggled to write her break-up book after her split from Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood until her ‘naughty’ friend gave her some X-rated ideas

Jo Wood celebrated the launch of her break-up book, The Resurrection of Flo on audiobook with her family and friends at Fitzrovia Studios on Wednesday night.

First released in 2025, the book follows Flo, a once-famous actress who, after a painful divorce, finds herself navigating the messy, liberating world of self-discovery in her fifties. 

Jo, 71, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, 78, said she initally struggled to write the X-rated break-up tome before her ‘naughty’ friend gave her way ‘worse’ ideas. 

She said: ‘I asked my friend Vin to write it for me, about two years before I finished it. Well, he said “let me write it for you, Jo”.

‘So I gave him all my notes and bits and pieces and after a year, he gave me eight chapters and I sat down and read it…

‘It was so crude, I couldn’t believe it. I said “Vin, I can’t put my name to this. It’s really naughty. Way worse than it ended up being.

‘So then I felt fine to do what I was going to do. That gave me the courage to write it myself.’ 

Jo looked incredible wearing an all-black ensemble and sporting her signature black eyeliner and platform heels.  

She released her debut novel, The Resurrection of Flo last year and in celebration has launched Flo’s break up box, a self-care gift curated by Jo for those navigating a breakup or in need of a restorative reset. 

The box features 10 items including a silk pillowcase, a sex toy, a pair of House of Cheviot cashmere socks, a bottle of APRÈS PROVENCE Rosé, an AJA Botanicals candle and more.

She added: ‘I loved bringing The Resurrection of Flo to life as an audiobook and seeing the world expand beyond the page in a new way.

‘Giving Flo a voice felt like a natural next step, and The Break Up Box grew from that same idea. 

‘It was a way of extending Flo’s spirit into something tangible, something comforting and uplifting for anyone going through heartbreak, healing after a breakup, or simply in need of a little pick-me-up. 

Jo was married to Ronnie from 1985 to 2011. They split primarily due to Ronnie’s adultery with 18-year-old waitress Ekaterina Ivanova in 2008.

The ‘sexy and shocking’ book mirrors her real-life experience of recovery after Ronnie’s 2008 affair and divorce, focuses on themes of resilience, female empowerment, and finding joy after a 30-year marriage ends. 

Jo was supported by son Jamie Wood and grandson Charlie Wood at the event, where guests sipped on Apres Provence Rose Wine, Jukes’ non-alcoholic wine and OMOSS sea moss beverages.
