Nat Thaipun has won MasterChef Australia in a gripping finale episode on Tuesday night.
The Victorian cook walked away victorious after mastering a dessert with 113 steps and no room for error.
‘You had everything on the plate. It looked incredible. But when we ate it, surprisingly, there were textural flaws’ the judges warned her.
However they added, ‘Thankfully, you made up for it in flavour.’
Nat needed 33 points to beat runner up Josh ‘Pezza’ Perry and she scraped in by a whisker.
She managed to get a 7 out of 10 from all five judges, including guest judge Clare Smyth, leading her to victory by two points.
The winner walks away with chef training from leading professional chefs, the chance to have their own cookbook published, and $250,000 in cash.
Starting this week, Nat will also be serving her signature menu at Alumni Restaurant, Crown Melbourne.

When asked how she was feeling, Nat admitted, ‘I’m exhausted! I feel so good. This is… This is crazy.
‘It feels like a dream but it’s not. It just happens. I just won MasterChef!’
Runner up Pezza was noble in defeat, and was awarded a $40,000 runner-up prize.

‘Poh (Ling Yeow) got second, and look what she’s done! So, if the wife comes with me, we might do something really special, and hopefully you guys can all come and eat there one day.’
Fans of the show were pleased with the result, with many rooting from Nat from the start.
