Bond…James Bond. The name is enough for millions of fans worldwide to get glued to their TVs or buy a theatre ticket. One of the longest-running franchises in the world, the British icon has changed several faces, spoken in different voices, and won millions of hearts across generations. Over the years, many actors have played the suave spy with killer instincts, including Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.
Under producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson’s creative control, the character of James Bond has always been depicted as the perfect spy, who is impeccably dressed, has quick wit, and is supremely confident under pressure. In the past decades, he evolved from being a Cold War-time spy to a modern vulnerable hero as brilliantly depicted by Craig, who also took out Bond when he exited the franchise. Marking the first death for the character in all his years.
Fans who’d love to check out all 26 movies in the franchise without switching streaming services have missed the opportunity to check them out on Netflix. All James Bond movies have left Netflix, per CBR, but worry not, given that Amazon Studios now holds the rights to the movies, they should pop up on either Prime Video or MGM+ soon.
What Do We Know About the Next James Bond Movie?
Painfully little is known about the finer details of the next James Bond movie. In recent years, Amazon acquired the rights to the IP from Broccoli and Wilson and has been planning a new movie. This acquisition lends creative control to Amazon, which has opened new avenues for the franchise. While no actor has been announced, fan favorites like Henry Cavill, Jacob Elordi, Idris Elba, Henry Golding, and Taron Egerton often come up in internet discussions about the role. However, whoever is cast in the iconic role will have all eyes on him, not only for stepping into the shoes of 007, but also because this is the first Bond casting with new creatives at the helm.
The top-line talents include Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who’ll pen the script. The well-known creator recently brought back Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) in The Immortal Man movie and blew fans’ minds. Given his long list of credits, including Taboo, House of Guinness, and more, he’ll no doubt be bringing an intense story. Bringing it to life is Dune auteur Denis Villeneuve, who is currently gearing up for a December release of the final installment, Dune: Part Three.
