Pokémon Officially Getting New Mobile Game On June 17

Pokémon is having a huge year, despite no new mainline games releasing in 2026. This is mostly because of the 30th anniversary of the franchise, which has gotten countless collabs already, as well as seeing official re-releases of FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch. Along the way, we’ve seen a new game, Pokémon Champions, arrive on Switch and a reveal trailer for Gen 10’s Winds and Waves.

And while most of the releases so far have been on Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2, mobile gamers are about to be able to get in on all the fun. The announcement comes via the official Pokémon website, which shared details on the upcoming release of Pokémon Champions for iOS and Android.

Pokémon Champions Charizard

That’s right — a little over two months after it released on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Pokémon Champions is coming to mobile on June 17, 2026. It will be available on both the App Store and Google Play storefronts. Preregistration is underway now, and if you’re looking to move over to mobile after playing on a Nintendo console, don’t worry: Your save progress will carry over. All you have to do is link your Nintendo account.

That’s not all, though. Players who log into Pokémon Champions, no matter their platform, from Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 6:49 p.m. PDT, will be able to claim Raichu, Raichunite X, and Raichunite Y from their in-game mailbox. It’s a nice way to celebrate the game’s launch on mobile, even if you plan on sticking with your Switch or Switch 2.

Although Pokémon Champions reviews were mixed at launch, the game has gotten some nice additions and updates since then. It now has a pretty dedicated fanbase, which will likely only grow now that the new game is coming to mobile. Considering Winds and Waves aren’t coming out until 2027, it’s possible this is the last Pokémon game release we get this year. It’s also free-to-play, so it’s worth checking out if you’re a fan of the franchise already.

It’s been a nice year for Pokémon so far. Beyond video games and merchandise, we’re also getting a cool 30th Celebration set for the Pokémon TCG in September, so there are still a few things to look forward to. More immediately, though, Pokémon fans can check out Champions on June 17, and remember that preregistration is open now.
