A remake of the 1986 film of the same name starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, John Wick director Chad Stahelski‘s Highlander reboot is well into the throes of production, with recent first-look photos from behind the scenes posted by Henry Cavill giving fans a taste of what’s to come. The former Superman is starring as Connor MacLeod, and is joined by a star-studded cast, including Dave Bautista (The Wrecking Crew), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy), Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), and Marisa Abela (Industry).
Most excitingly, veteran actor and Academy Award winner Russell Crowe will star in the film as Ramirez, taking over from the late Connery, with an April post to his social media showing the Gladiator star back in incredible shape, ready to keep up with the likes of Cavill and Bautista. As we wait for more updates on Highlander, one of Crowe’s best movies is about to become available for your viewing pleasure for free.
Crowe starred alongside Christian Bale and Ben Foster in the 2007 Western drama 3:10 to Yuma, a remake of the 1957 movie of the same name, which itself was based on a 1953 short story. Halsted Welles, Derek Haas, and Michael Brandt wrote the script, with James Mangold directing, 17 years before he would guide Timothée Chalamet to an Oscar nomination for playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. The 3:10 to Yuma remake was a huge hit with reviewers, scoring an 89% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and being labeled “one of the 21st century’s best Westerns” by one critic. Almost two decades on, you can catch 3:10 to Yuma for free on Plex, starting June 1, 2026.
Was ‘3:10 to Yuma’ a Box Office Hit?
A gunslinging Western featuring some of the best actors of their day, surely 3:10 to Yuma would prove to be a box office success? Alas, at a time when Westerns were losing their appeal with theatergoers, 3:10 to Yuma flopped. Against a reported budget of $48 million, the movie earned just $71 million worldwide, split between a domestic haul of $54 million and a further $17 million from overseas markets. At least the movie made over $50 million in DVD and Blu-ray sales.
3:10 to Yuma will stream on Plex starting next month. Stay tuned to Collider for the latest streaming stories.
