With the cameras now finished filming for Season 5 of The Boys, the long-awaited Supernatural reunion is upon us. The final season of Eric Kripke’s latest project will give audiences what they’ve long wanted — an episode filled with cameos featuring members of the 15-season-running CW series of yesteryear. While it isn’t a full-blown Supernatural reboot, we’ll take what we can get. For now, we know that Jensen Ackles will pick up his shield and return to the role of Soldier Boy, a character he last played during the show’s third season. Additionally, his Supernatural pals, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, will join in on the fun, appearing in the final season as two characters whose details are being kept under wraps. But, thanks to a fan question over the weekend at Fan Expo Boston, where Padalecki was the main face at a panel, the secrets under said wrap began to loosen a bit.
When asked about his participation in Season 5 of The Boys, Padalecki revealed, “I’ll say this much — my character is very excited to meet Soldier Boy.” From this, we can gather that the Gilmore Girls alum will likely look up to Ackles’ morally questionable character, and we might even see a big-brother-little-brother dynamic play out — just like old times! We don’t know how Collins will find his way into the mix, but Kripke previously revealed that all three characters will share some screentime together.
As for when to expect the Supernatural takeover on The Boys, Padalecki revealed that it might be further off than some would hope:
“It’s Episode 5 of Season 5. I think they’re putting out the first four episodes and then a little bit of time and then the final four episodes.”
Putting out a word of warning to all the underage fans in the audience, Padalecki cheekily added, “And for those who are not yet 18, do not watch it.”
Waiting for ‘The Boys’ Season 5 Is the Hardest Part
It would be one thing if we had a date in mind for when The Boys will officially return to our screens, but Padalecki’s comments about him playing a fanboy just make us more impatient than ever. Luckily those who can’t wait to jump back into the twisted and gross superhero universe have just a little bit over one month to wait until the return of its off-shoot, Gen V. On September 17, the show will explode onto Prime Video where audiences will pick up for the next chapter in the stories of Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (London Thor, Derek Luh), Emma (Lizze Broadway) and the other young and incredibly powerful up-and-coming supes.
Stay tuned to Collider for more updates surrounding the arrival of The Boys’ fifth and final season.
