A woman has been fiercely slammed online after walking out on her date because he wanted to take the leftovers home – despite him paying more than $220 for her meal alone.
The man, named Max Birch, took to TikTok back in April to share his frustration following the incident.
He explained that he had taken the unnamed woman out to an expensive restaurant but was thwarted when she ordered one of the most expensive entrees on the menu and only had a few bites.
He decided to box up her meal and take it with him so it didn’t go to waste, which left his prospective new partner completely horrified.
She was ultimately so disgusted that he wanted to take her food as leftovers that she left abruptly, refused to let him drive her home and ultimately ghosted him.
The video was reposted on X (formerly Twitter) this week by the popular account @TheMakarioz, where it went viral, sparking immense backlash for the woman.
‘Please tell me if I’m in the wrong here,’ Birch, from New York City, began in the controversial clip.
‘I went on a date with this girl and apparently what I did at the end of the date was enough to ruin the entire night for her and have her never talk to me again.’

Birch explained that a few weeks ago, he decided to book a ‘really nice place’ for a first date because he had recently had ‘success at work’ and ‘made a little extra money.’
He said things were going well until it came time for them to order their food.
‘I pick her up, I drive us to the restaurant, I valet my car, I’m feeling good, the conversation is flowing, she’s looking amazing. Everything is fantastic,’ he explained.
‘I get us a nice bottle of wine, we’re drinking and talking, discussing what we’re going to order for dinner.
‘I’m thinking the $35 Bolognese, maybe the arancini as an appetizer. She’s like, “I’ll probably do the same, the pasta sounds good.”
‘But she was lying to my f**king face. When we ordered our food, that’s when everything changed.’
Birch explained that when the waiter came to take their orders, she decided to switch things up and get something much more pricey, leaving him completely blindsided.
‘I put my order in, the arancini and the Bolognese. I’m looking at her, she goes, “You know what actually? I think I’m gonna do the surf and turf, the steak and lobster, and why don’t we do the $85 caviar specialty on the side,”‘ he recalled.

‘I look at the menu, she just ordered a $220 [meal]. That was more than what I got with the bottle of wine combined.’
Despite his shock, Birch said he tried to ‘push it to the back of his mind’ and enjoy himself, adding: ‘I had just made extra money, I got [myself] into this by booking a reservation at this really nice restaurant.’
But things only got worse when the food came.
According to Birch, his date only took ‘three bites’ of the surf and turf and had ‘a little scoop of caviar’ before she announced that she was full.
‘The whole entire dish is sitting in front of her untouched essentially,’ he said. ‘I’m a little bit upset. We could have split it at the very least.
‘Why did you throw me a curve ball at the last minute and order the most expensive thing on the menu to not even eat it?’
Birch said he decided it was ‘all good’ because he knew he could ‘throw it in a leftover box and have it for dinner the next night.’
But when the waiter came to grab their plates and he asked for a to-go container, the woman was not happy.
‘She looks up at me, this girl I’m on a date with, like I just killed somebody. Like I legitimately just murdered someone at the table,’ Birch shared.
‘She goes, “You’re gonna take these to go? You want to eat leftovers?” She looks like she’s holding back throw up as she says it.
‘She’s like, “I would never eat leftovers. Food is not good the next day. That’s insane. If you’re going to take that, I’m gonna take myself home.” Please, I don’t want to f**king drive you home.’
Birch said that he still offered to give her a ride, but she ‘refused,’ called an Uber and left.
He added that he believed she ‘overreacted’ and ‘took full advantage of him’ by ordering such an expensive meal.
‘That was the last I heard from her. I took her to a nice meal, she ordered the most expensive thing on the menu – but what didn’t get me a second date was I took the food home for leftovers?’ he questioned.
‘What is this world we live in? I’m glad this happened because I dodged a f**king bullet.’
Birch’s video got a whopping 15.7 million views on TikTok and another 164,000 on X when it was reshared this week, and many people were quick to take his side.
‘He should take the leftovers. He paid for them. What has happened to these young people and their entitled attitude?’ one user responded on X.
‘Who taught these women this is acceptable behavior? Yeah I’m old, but I know how to act like a lady and be respectful to a date.’
‘Sounds like you met an entitled snob. She knew exactly what she was doing,’ added someone else.
‘I’m a woman and I think the woman is a wack-job loser. You’re not wrong. She probably plays this game all the time,’ another viewer wrote.
‘Dude! You totally dodged a bullet! You should be grateful! She’s insane!’ read a fourth post.
‘I stand with him. There is nothing wrong with bringing any leftovers home… You paid for them, why be wasteful… She is a moron,’ said a fifth.
