Josh Widdicombe has revealed his daughter was rushed to hospital after she broke her arm whilst he was away working

Josh Widdicombe’s daughter was rushed to hospital after she broke her arm whilst he was away working.

The comedian, 42, was shocked to hear from his wife, TV producer turned interior designer Rose Hanson, that Pearl, eight, was put under anaesthetic because her injury, caused by doing a cartwheel at school, was so severe.

On the June 26 episode of his and 40-year-old Rob Beckett’s Parenting Hell podcast, Josh shared: ‘I’ve had such a f****** dramatic few days. F*** me! So on Thursday, my daughter broke her arm …

‘Anyway, my daughter broke her arm doing a cartwheel. I was away working. So Rose calls me, “She’s broken her arm.” But do you know what? She was hard as nails. She had to go to the hospital. Proper breaks.’

The Strictly Come Dancing host said Pearl had to be put under anaesthetic so that doctors could ‘reset’ her arm.

Josh, who moved from London to Exeter with his family last year, noted that her school pals, who witnessed the accident, were left shaken.

He added: ‘Her friends were quite affected by it. They both cried after school, the ones that saw. You know when footballers see a bad injury near them.’

After Rob asked if Pearl was OK, Josh said that the youngster is doing well, and that doctors put her arm in a cast.

He added: ‘We’re going to the hospital on Friday to have the check-up to see when it comes off, stroke, whether you can get a shorter cast, all this kind of stuff.’

The Celebrity Traitors’ Rob wondered if the cast was ‘over the elbow’, and Josh replied it was, adding: ‘I mean, it looks rubbish. She’s taking it very well.

‘It’s her right hand, but actually turns out she’s quite good with her left hand now. She can write with her left hand, it turns out.’

As well as Pearl, Josh and Rose – who married in 2019 – are also parents to a five-year-old son named Cassius.

From September, The Last Leg star is fronting Strictly Come Dancing alongside Emma Willis, 50, and 39-year-old Johannes Radebe – who has been a pro on the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance show since 2018.

The trio have replaced Tess Daly, 57, and Claudia Winkleman, 54, who quit at the end of the 2025 series in December.

In a statement, Josh said: ‘Dancing the Charleston dressed as a penguin for the 2024 Christmas Special of Strictly remains my career high point, so I am giddy with excitement, honoured and a little overawed to be given the chance to step into the biggest shoes in television.

‘I adore Emma and Jojo and can’t wait to spend my weekends with them. I’ll dust off the penguin costume.’
