Number one on the Daily Mail's Power list are President Donald Trump, 79, and First Lady Melania Trump, 55

Ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday on July 4, and based on exclusive polling, DailyMail+ is unveiling its America 250 Power Lists, ranking the men and women who people truly believe wield the most influence.

Each week, we will focus on a separate group in public life. They will include America’s most powerful political commentators, morning show stars, influencers – and more.

We will also spotlight those quietly shaping Washington behind the scenes, the real forces in the Nashville country music scene, the best-dressed Americans and the biggest names in soccer ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

We have already revealed America’s most influential man: Donald Trump.

And today, as we unveil the nation’s most influential couples, it will perhaps come as little surprise that the President and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, top the list once more.

The two, aged 79 and 56 respectively, first met in 1998 when they were introduced by a mutual friend at a party in New York City.

They married in 2005 and have one child together, Barron Trump, 20.

According to body language expert Judi James, they are quite the match made in heaven.

‘They’re no Cathy and Heathcliff, but could anyone imagine a more complimentary marital and professional “fit” for Donald than Melania?’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘Their body language is professionally complimentary, meaning Melania provides some necessary shoring up of the presidency and the man when it comes to elegance and a more restrained non-verbal approach.’

‘If you study them long enough you can see Melania taking an active steering, policing role while he indulges himself in his dad dancing and unfiltered rants,’ James added.

‘There are increasing glimpses of a subtle emotional neediness from Trump towards his “Hollywood movie star” wife, with the hand-holding that usually appears instigated by him seeming to increase.’

Coming in at second place in our ranking of America’s most influential couples is another big political pair – the former President Barack Obama, 64, and his wife Michelle Obama, 62.

These two have been together since 1989. They met while working at law firm Sidley & Austin in Chicago, from where they both hail.

At first, Michelle, who was assigned to show Barack around as a summer associate, was unsure about dating someone from work. But their relationship blossomed and they soon fell in love.

They married in 1992 and have two daughters, Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24.

The current status of their relationship has been the subject of many headlines since the President left office, with some speculating there was trouble in paradise after Michelle decided to skip President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in 2024, leaving Barack to attend alone.

However, Michelle has since and firmly dispelled the rumors.

‘Regardless of how their story pans out, Barack and Michelle (who openly talk about challenges in their relationship) deserve to be celebrated as the ultimate power couple of their day in terms of oozing a very relatable version of compatibility signals that defined the real face of a romantic, sensual and playful marriage,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘They had us by that iconic pose in the lift at the inaugural ball [in 2009] when Barack tenderly forehead-bumped his wife as she stood wrapped in his dinner jacket.

‘The couple’s body language displayed sexual and intellectual ease as well as playfulness, with extended periods of mutual eye contact showing the strongest connections – and their signature pose of head closeness suggesting like-minded goals and thinking and high levels of trust.’

James added that while the two were in office – from 2009 to 2017 – they were often seen showing off PDA.

‘Their clasping rituals were mutual,’ James continued. ‘They would often pose face to face with their arms encircling each other’s torsos. Their kisses were synchronized and natural-looking and they ranged from a sweet “Guppy kiss” to a full-on mouth snog.

‘The projected message was of equal status, power and strength. Michelle and Barack were always good to watch because they showed how a perfect match of intellect, charisma and visual elegance looks for an ultimate power couple.’

Coming in third on our power couple ranking is NFL royalty: Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, both 30.

Patrick, the famous Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and three-time Super Bowl winner, met Brittany while they were in high school.

They both attended Whitehouse High School in Texas and continued their relationship through college, where Patrick played football at Texas Tech, and Brittany played soccer at University of Texas at Tyler.

The two married in a private ceremony in March 2022 and have three children together – daughters Sterling, five, and Golden Raye, one, as well as son Patrick ‘Bronze,’ three.

‘Navigating a relationship around the inflated and brittle ego of a star sportsman can be notoriously tricky, but Patrick and Brittany’s compatibility signals appear to have been solid since their days as childhood sweethearts when their intense mirroring signals made them look almost like twins in their photos together,’ James told the Daily Mail.

James explained that the two still seem to have the same relationship and love language as they did all those years ago.

‘Brittany’s signature reward signals on the pitch range from the “flying koala” leap and hug to the “bestowed kiss” where she tenderly cups his face to reach up and kiss his lips,’ the expert said. ‘But the key factor for projected compatibility comes from his responses.

‘His body language suggests he is always fully invested in these PDAs and never straining on the leash. Even in the chaos out there on the field, he acts as though she is the only person who exists in his world.’

James said the two even have a signature pose in photos.

‘When they pose for couple’s photos, we can always see Patrick performing a loving dependency ritual: either tilting his head and/or his torso in towards his wife in response to the hand that she will place on his chest, suggesting a state of mutual pride and cherishing,’ James explained.

‘The couple can look mutually fierce, too. Their poses suggest a strong unit in the face of any criticism and adversity.’

Next on the Daily Mail’s list, at number four, is newscaster Robin Roberts, 65, and her wife, Amber Laign, 50.

The two first met in 2005 when they were set up on a blind date and have been together ever since.

Up until 2013, they kept their relationship quite private. But Roberts and Laign tied the knot in September 2023 and do not share any children.

The couple has been through a lot together, as they are both cancer survivors. Roberts was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and later myelodysplastic syndrome in 2012. She has been in remission since 2013 and credits her wife for being extremely supportive.

In 2021, Laign was diagnosed with breast cancer and received radiation treatment.

James said that the couple’s body language is ’emotionally rich’ and ‘complex,’ as they project signals suggesting ‘as a team, they are formidable, strong and unassailable in the face of adversity.’

At number five on the Daily Mail’s list of the most powerful couples are America’s sweethearts, pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, both 36.

The two started dating in the summer of 2023 after Kelce publicly spoke about how he attempted to give her a friendship bracelet during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City.

They later exchanged information and the rest was history, with Kelce proposing to Swift in August 2025 with a massive, cushion-cut diamond.

The two are rumored to wed in New York City on July 4, 2026.

‘The eternal prom queen and king threw up some very performative-looking PDAs at the start of their romance – and that trait will clearly have legs thanks to rabid public interest,’ James said. ‘But behind the performative body language there is a more authentic and less effortful-looking signaling as the wedding gets closer.’

However, it was Swift’s August 2025 appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, that really sealed the deal between them, according to the body language expert.

‘The power balance was clearly tilting in the hugely smart and professional Taylor’s favor, but Travis gazed at her wearing the look of love and chipped in enough to suggest they actually had been sharing their lives, time and future plans,’ James said.

Just behind Swift and Kelce in the Power List is Meta titan Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, both 41.

The couple first met in 2003. They bumped into each other while waiting for the bathroom at a party at Harvard University, where they were both students.

They have been together ever since and wed in May 2012, the day after Facebook went public. Zuckerberg and Chan share three daughters: Maxima, 10, August, eight, and Aureila, three.

‘There’s a lot of quietly visual matching between these two and their mirrored poses have been a feature since the earliest days of their relationship, suggesting a high level of compatibility in terms of intellect and shared goals when their passions do collide,’ James told the Daily Mail about the couple.

The two still seem as strong as ever. In February 2025 he called her ‘the most important person’ in his life in honor of her 40th birthday.

Coming in behind the tech power couple at number seven are alleged newlyweds Zendaya and Tom Holland, both 29.

These two are a favorite among fans, as many are inspired by their sweet love story.

They have kept their relationship largely private over the years, only confirming in 2021 that they were together after years of speculation.

Zendaya revealed her engagement in January 2025, and it’s rumored that they have since tied the knot after her longtime stylist, Law Roach, hinted at a wedding during an interview at the 2026 Actors Awards in March. Neither Zendaya nor Holland have confirmed whether they are married.

‘This couple deserve a big green flag tick for refusing to pander to the celebrity trend of performative loved-up overkill rituals on the red carpet and beyond as well as their visual loyalty when pushing a movie with a different co-star,’ James told the Daily Mail about their relationship.

The body language expert said that the two of them ‘don’t take themselves too seriously,’ and suggest a genuine and solid foundation as friends, too.

Just behind Zendaya and Holland are Hailey and Justin Bieber, another one of Hollywood’s royal couples.

Justin, 32, and Hailey, 29, began dating in 2015, later breaking up and then reconciling once again in 2018. They wed that same year and then followed with an official wedding ceremony in September 2019.

They welcomed their first child, son Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.

Over the years, their relationship has faced intense scrutiny, especially as fans championed Justin’s previous long-term relationship with singer Selena Gomez.

They’ve gone through rumored ups and downs, but now appear stronger than ever as Hailey supported Justin throughout both of his headlining weekends at Coachella 2026.

Both Hailey and Justin are also huge style icons in the fashion world, inspiring many trends over the past few years.

James said their body language is ‘phenomenally rich,’ with Hailey leading the way.

‘It’s Hailey who appears to be the powerhouse in this marriage and as such she seems to be providing Justin with the complimentary strength,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘Totally contrasting body language then, but when they meet together in a loving state it can be heartbreakingly adorable.’

Coming in at number nine on the power ranking is WME Group Executive Chairman Patrick Whitesell, 61, and his wife, Australian model Pia Whitesell, 42.

The powerhouse couple met in 2019 through mutual friends and later tied the knot in May 2021.

James said the two have a ‘very comfortable emotional fit.’

Patrick was previously married to journalist Lauren Sanchez from 2005 to 2019, with whom he shares two children: son Evan, 19, and daughter Ella, 18.

Pia also has two sons, Isaiah, 22, and Lennox, 19, from two previous relationships.

‘For me, it’s honestly the best, most heartwarming thing to see the blending of four teenagers who were strangers just a few years ago,’ Pia told Marie Claire Australia in January 2026.

‘We sit around the table every night, enjoying each other’s company, having a laugh as we share our stories. We spent Thanksgiving together; how lucky are we to have all found each other?’

Ranking at number ten is Eric Trump, 42, and wife Lara Trump, 43.

A political powerhouse couple, the two first met in 2008 while out in New York City with friends. They began dating shortly thereafter, tying the knot in a lavish 2014 wedding at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.

Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, officiated the wedding, while Eric’s older brother, Don Jr, was his best man.

The two have been extremely supportive of Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns. Lara even served as the former co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

According to James, when Eric and Lara are together, their connection looks ‘strong.’

‘Apart from the like-minded mirroring, they are keen eye-to-eye gazers,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘During moments when she is talking, he tends to gaze at her with happy adoration, only wanting to join in the chorus once they have agreed on the points via some eye contact tie-signs.

‘Their hand clasps look mutual, with curled fingers showing synchronicity. They tend to stand with their torsos pressed inward together, hinting at physical closeness as well as intellectual.’

The couple has two children together: son Eric, eight, and daughter Carolina, six.

At number 11 on the Power List is News Corp giant Rupert Murdoch, 95, and retired molecular biologist Elena Zhukova, 67.

Strangely enough, this couple were reportedly introduced to one another by one of Murdoch’s ex-wives, Wendi Deng.

When Zhukova first moved to the US, she settled in Houston, working at the Baylor College of Medicine before moving to Los Angeles to take up a position at UCLA.

At the time of her retirement, Zhukova was considered an authority on diabetes and was a professor of molecular biology at the University of California.

They wed in June 2024 at his Moraga vineyard estate in California, making her Murdoch’s fifth wife – and it looks like the fifth time might be the charm for these two lovebirds.

‘You’d never bet your house on a fifth marriage, but Rupert and Elena’s body language together does make this look like a comfortable, compatible match,’ James said.

‘Sitting at their wedding, the couple relaxed back against each other in effortlessly mirrored poses of sociable and companionable confidence,’ James continued.

‘When they stood, she posed with her head on his chest in a display that made this 93-year-old still look like the strong protective alpha.’

James said the couple’s ‘style of chatting makes them look intellectually suited,’ and that ‘there are no overt fussing rituals from Elena that might diminish Rupert’s power profile.’

Just behind the news titan is White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, and her much older husband, businessman Nicholas Riccio, 60.

The two met during Leavitt’s run for a seat in New Hampshire’s Congress in 2022 and were friends first before they fell in love.

They welcomed their first child, son Niko, in July 2024 and wed at the end of 2025. The pair are currently expecting their second child, a girl, due in May.

Since stepping into the spotlight as Trump’s Press Secretary, Leavitt’s relationship has faced scrutiny. But the couple has taken everything in stride, often appearing together at official events like the White House Easter Egg Roll.

‘I mean, it’s a very atypical love story but he’s incredible,’ Leavitt said told Megyn Kelly last March. ‘He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend and he’s my rock.

‘He’s built a very successful business himself, so now he’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career.’

And indeed, the two are compatible, according to James.

‘His body language suggests a man who is grounded, more introvert than extrovert, and devoted to his wife,’ James told the Daily Mail of Riccio.

At number 13 on the Daily Mail’s Power List is Miami’s hottest couple: entrepreneur David Grutman, 51, and model wife Isabela Rangel Grutman, 34.

The couple first met in 2015 at a New York City club called Provocateur through mutual friends. They married in 2016.

Together, the two are extremely powerful – David is a hospitality millionaire known for his ventures Gekko, Komodo, Swan and The Key Club, while Isabela owns her own fashion line, Rangel, and is a partner in IGK Hair.

The couple has two daughters: Kaia, eight, and Vida, six.

‘Strong, smart and strenuously stylish, Isabella’s body language rituals define her as the powerhouse in this relationship,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘Their red-carpet pics see Isabella slaying the poses and often partly eclipsing her husband in the process, either with the extended leg or even standing in front of him while he grins from behind her.’

But according to the body language expert, David’s ‘non-verbal signals suggest he is totally happy with this projected power imbalance.’

Following the Grutmans on our list is tennis legend Serena Williams, 44, and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, 42.

The power couple met for the first time in May 2015 over a breakfast in Rome, Italy.

Just one year later, in 2016, the two got engaged. They tied the knot at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans in November 2017.

Just a few months before, in September 2017, they welcomed their first child together, daughter Olympia, eight. They later welcomed another daughter, Adira, two, in 2023.

The couple are extremely accomplished in their own right – with Ohanian cofounding billion-dollar company Reddit and Williams winning 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 14 Grand Slam doubles titles with her sister, Venus Williams.

‘It’s the more relaxed, casual fun moments that see these two show their strong signals of compatibility, when they both bend into the joy of each other’s company and present as a mirrored, like-minded double act,’ James said.

Next up, the Daily Mail has ranked Beyoncé, 44, and Jay-Z, 56, at number 15.

The couple first met around the time that Beyoncé was 18, in the early 2000s. They tied the knot in 2008, with a wedding ceremony held at his 13,500sq ft Manhattan penthouse.

In 2012, they welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy, 14, and twins Rumi and Sir Carter, eight, followed in 2017.

Over the years, their relationship has been rather private. But during a 2017 interview with The New York Times Style Magazine, Jay-Z admitted he had previously had an affair.

The two have since seemingly worked through these issues and put on a united front – evident from their recent appearance at the 2026 Super Bowl, according to James.

‘Their smiles are almost cuter and more teenage-on-a-date than they looked eighteen years before,’ she told the Daily Mail.

Right behind the American power couple is British near-royalty David Beckham, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 52.

‘This couple created a new normal standard in terms of power couple body language,’ James said. The expert added that Victoria has made ‘a Herculean amount of effort over the years’ in order for them to appear as ‘the perfect and enviable A-list couple, despite a few bumps in the road.’

They first met in 1997 at the Manchester United players’ lounge, and married in 1999 with a gorgeous ceremony at the Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, Ireland.

The relationship between soccer player and former Spice Girls singer has been touted as ideal for almost everyone over the past few decades.

The Beckhams share four children together: sons Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, and daughter Harper, 14 – though they’re currently in a very public feud with their eldest.

The couple are often putting on a loved-up display, even all these years later, as their adoration for each other was palpable in the 2023 Netflix docuseries, Beckham.

Coming in at number 17 on the list is Kelly Ripa, 55, and Mark Consuelos, 55.

These two are the true definition of a working powerhouse couple. They now co-host popular talk show Live with Kelly and Mark every weekday morning.

Ripa, a talk show titan, met Consuelos in 1995, when he auditioned to play her love interest on soap opera All My Children.

In February 1996, they went public with their relationship and tied the knot by eloping in Vegas in May of that same year. They share three children: sons Michael, 28, and Joaquin, 23, and daughter Lola, 24.

The couple has stood the test of time as they have supported each other throughout their longstanding careers, eventually coming together to create their talk show empire.

‘If these two ever quit their jobs, they’d have to be replaced by AI as it is as rare… to find a working, real-life couple that can replicate chemistry together in front of the cameras every day like this duo do,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘It’s easier for non-couples to act sofa chemistry, but Kelly and Mark’s body language signals together – on the show and beyond – are as immaculate as possible.

‘They even work out together, setting the “couples goals” projections at a very high bar.’

At number 18 comes a couple that everyone’s been talking about lately: Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos, 62, and his wife, journalist Lauren Sanchez, 56.

The two nearly broke the internet in 2019 after it was revealed that they were having an extramarital affair.

But they soon seemed truly in love. Bezos popped the question to his bride with a 30-carat diamond ring in May 2023, and they later married with a lavish Venetian wedding in June 2025.

The two seem to genuinely enjoy each other, as they’ve been seen having fun on their yacht, partying together in various locations and even attending Paris Fashion Week as a pair.

During an April 2026 interview with The New York Times, Sanchez declared that she would ‘have a baby tomorrow’ with Bezos.

James told the Daily Mail that Sanchez makes Bezos look ‘sexy by proxy,’ and that the Amazon founder seems ‘very happy’ to be in the spotlight by her side.

Following these two lovebirds is Vice President JD Vance, 41, and his wife, Usha Vance, 40.

The couple met in 2010 while they were both students at Yale Law School. They later got married in Kentucky in 2014.

The two share three children: sons Ewan, eight, and Vivek, six, and daughter Mirabel, four. They are currently expecting a third son due in July.

During a speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, the lawyer said that her and JD’s relationship is a ‘testament to this great country.’

‘Their family unit signals look strong and relatable,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘Usha turns up to show loyalty, but there’s little if any fake schmoozing rituals for the cameras.

‘Their body language suggests strong bonds and priorities, though, and there’s a sense of authenticity about Usha’s body language that makes their relationship look very real.’

Coming in at number 20 is another political couple, Ivanka Trump, 44, and Jared Kushner, 45.

Ivanka, who is the daughter of President Trump, met Kushner in 2007 through mutual friends and fell fast in love. She later converted to Judaism, matching Kushner’s religion.

They got married in 2009 at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, and share three children together: daughter Arabella, 14, and sons Joseph, 11, and Theo, nine.

The two have truly worked together throughout their marriage, as they both entered the administration during her father’s first term in 2017. They both served as Senior Advisors for her father.

In Trump’s second administration, Kushner has served as a diplomatic ‘peace envoy’ in the Middle East.

In 2016, Ivanka gushed over her husband, calling him her ‘greatest motivation,’ and according to James, the two have a ‘dedication to visual perfection.’

‘Their non-verbal love language as a power couple involves standing side by side and to attention in public with little if any movement of facial features or hair,’ she said.

Next on the list at number 21 is Don Jr, 47, and his fiancée, Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, 39.

Just a year after Don Jr’s public split from newly minted Greek ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle, he began dating Anderson. He proposed with an eight-carat diamond ring this past holiday season.

The eldest son revealed he was unsure whether his new bride-to-be would actually accept his proposal as he got down on one knee. But his father, President Trump, revealed the ensuing engagement news during a Christmas White House reception.

Despite Don Jr’s nerves, the two seem to be truly in love, according to James. She told the Daily Mail that Anderson’s ‘rituals can suggest a quiet desire to be visually expressive with Don.’

It seems that the family approves of Bettina, too, as all of the Trump ladies attended her bridal shower in April 2026. Ivanka even posted a gushing Instagram about her.

The number 22 spot is for model Paulina Gretzky, 37, and professional golfer Dustin Johnson, 41.

They started dating in 2013 and later tied the knot in 2022. They share sons Tatum, 11, and River, nine.

The two are a powerhouse couple, as Gretzky is extremely supportive of Johnson – something that James has taken notice of.

‘Paulina’s PDAs tend to show its camera first,’ James told the Daily Mail, adding that the model ‘works the very glamorous poses off a devoted-looking Dustin – arching her back, sticking out her bum and engaging the lens directly with a smile and some eye contact.’

Coming in at number 23, are Brooklyn Beckham, 27, and wife Nicola Peltz, 31.

The two began dating in October 2019, later getting married in April 2022.

Their relationship has truly weathered the storm as they’ve stayed together through family estrangement and alleged wedding drama.

Beckham previously claimed that his mother, Victoria, had canceled making Peltz’s dress at the last minute, ‘hijacked’ the first dance and ‘danced inappropriately’ on him.

But the youngsters have still managed to have a relationship that’s stronger than ever, according to James.

‘Their love-flaunting body language narrative tends to come with a projected global message,’ James said.

‘Both have something to prove in terms of decision making, and Brooklyn’s rituals and poses look aimed at showing off ecstatically perfect, in tune coupledom.’

At number 24 on the Daily Mail’s Power List is Kylie Jenner, 28, and actor Timothée Chalamet, 30, who often put on a loved-up display.

The couple have gained global notoriety for their high-powered relationship as fans went crazy over their romance, which began in April 2023.

Although they’ve remained quite private throughout, Jenner has appeared at his side during all the major awards shows – and they even coordinated matching orange Chrome Hearts looks at the 2025 premiere of his movie Marty Supreme.

‘They create A-list magic as a couple, but Timothée still tends to look like a guy keen to get off to the skate park or football stadium with his pals, while Kylie looks like the consummate, glamorous reality star,’ James told the Daily Mail.

Last but not least on the Daily Mail’s Most Powerful Couple List is golfer Rory McIlroy, 36, and his wife, Erica Stoll, 38.

The two met at the Ryder Cup in 2012, where she was working at the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.

McIlroy proposed to Stoll in December 2015, and they married in April 2017. They welcomed their first daughter, Poppy, in August 2020.

This couple has weathered their fair share of storms over the years, too, as McIlroy filed for divorce in May 2024, but called that off just weeks later in June.

‘These two look like the perfect golf couple out there on the green – or, golfing family group dynamic when you add their adored daughter,’ James told the Daily Mail.

‘Rory wins and he celebrates with a hug from the loyal-looking supportive wife whose signals combined with his suggest he really does draw strength and balance from her support following their very public blip.

‘There are few glimpses of any off-the-green PDAs that might add dimension, though, suggesting a preference for privacy rather than couple’s power.’
