Supermodels constantly show off their faces on billboards and in magazine spreads, so when they debut a new look, it’s particularly shocking to fans.
Take Izabel Goulart. The Brazilian beauty was branded as ‘unrecognizable’ last month after she appeared at an event in Cannes looking very different.
She walked the film festival’s red carpet with a noticeably taut visage, while her striking eyes appeared to be slightly asymmetrical.
People took to social media to discuss her changing appearance in droves, with one stating that she ‘turned into a whole different person’ and another asking: ‘What happened to her face? Why does she look so different? It’s not even her.’
Goulart, who has never publicly admitted to any major cosmetic surgery procedures, is not the only supermodel to leave fans stunned by showcasing a dramatic overhaul.
In fact, many of the fashion industry’s most famous faces have undergone some serious transformations over the years – from Adriana Lima to Heidi Klum to Behati Prinsloo.
Now, plastic surgeons, who did not treat the stars directly, have weighed in on the potential procedures that these supermodels may have gotten.
Here are the fashion stars who have been branded as ‘unrecognizable’ over the years, and the possible tweakments they got.

Goulart, 41, sent social media into a frenzy when she walked the carpet in Cannes last month.
The former Victoria’s Secret angel is notably a global ambassador for Merz Aesthetics, which offers injectable treatments including the neurotoxin Xeomin and the collagen-stimulating dermal filler Radiesse.
While she hasn’t named the exact treatments she’s tried out, Goulart did confirm that she has skin treatments either ‘once a year’ or ‘once every six months.’
‘Medical aesthetics is about feeling good inside and out and doing all the things that empower yourself,’ Goulart said.
‘So, choosing the right treatments has always been very important for me. And science is what fascinates me.’
Dr Sean McNally, a board-certified plastic surgeon, based in Portland, Oregon, told the Daily Mail that the star looks like ‘she’s had a recent browlift’ after analyzing photos of her recently and when she was younger.
‘[She has a] higher brow arch. Given that her hairline looks higher, I’d suspect it was an endoscopic brow lift,’ he said. ‘And I suspect filler for her to the midface, in the cheeks.’

‘I would have had no idea that was the same person,’ one social media user wrote on X, while others speculated that the Brazilian bombshell might be ‘still swollen’ from a cosmetic procedure, like a ‘facelift’ or ‘fillers.’
Another wrote: ‘What did she do to her face? and WHY? She was perfect before.’

New York-based plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Levine told the Daily Mail at the time that a number of procedures that could have led to her ‘swollen’ appearance, including fillers and a surgical brow lift – although she noted that it could also be caused by medications or health issues.
‘It appears that her face is swollen around the eyes and mouth especially, as her eyes seem smaller, the brow is unnaturally angled and her smile seems less genuine,’ she explained.
‘It is possible that she has had a combination of fillers, threads and some neuromodulators.’
Pointing out the extreme tilt to the side of Lima’s brow, Dr Levine added: ‘It is also possible for her to have had a surgical brow lift

‘[But it] can also be achieved with PDO threads, which are placed below the skin and have barbs that help lift and reposition the tissue.’
‘Some changes to her face can occur with aging,’ the surgeon continued, adding ‘medications or health issues can also cause some of these changes.’
Beverly Hills, California-based aesthetics doctor Dr Rahi Sarbaziha also thought Lima might have had PDO threads, which is a procedure that uses dissolvable sutures to lift the skin, before opting for a different surgery.
‘It looks like she may have upgraded to brow surgery to create her sharp, angled brows,’ Dr Rahi said.
‘It’s also very possible that the procedure was recent and the surgical swelling hadn’t yet resolved. Surgical swelling can take up to one year to go down.’
Dr Rahi added that she appeared to have had ‘visible filler in her lips and cheeks, and some type of neurotoxin in the forehead and brow area.’ The aesthetics specialist continued: ‘In my opinion, she’s had a lot done but it’s good-quality work.’
‘She doesn’t have any visible pores or scars, so I would assume she’s had some skin rejuvenation procedures, like microneedling, to keep her skin plump and hydrated,’ Dr Rahi added, referencing the minimally invasive procedure that stimulates collagen to keep skin looking youthful.
Behati Prinsloo

However, by July 2025 it seemed like her stance may have changed as she admitted to People: ‘I’m all for Botox.’
Dr McNally told the Daily Mail that he ‘doesn’t see evidence of large procedures for her,’ but rather, he said it’s more likely she has gotten injections like filler and Botox.
‘I suspect lip and midface filler as these areas appear more full in a way that doesn’t typically happen naturally. Botox also likely to avoid forehead wrinkles,’ he said.

To tackle the issue, Dickinson said she got a ‘mini facelift’ done.
A mini face-lift is meant to address early signs of aging as it corrects sagging on the lower third of the face.

When asked if she ‘regretted’ any of her past surgeries, Dickinson replied at the time: ‘Oh, no.’

While the Victoria’s Secret model has never spoken about undergoing any cosmetic enhancements, she did express her reservations about the prevalence of cosmetic enhancements during a wide-ranging interview with C Magazine in 2019.
‘I think you have to make really informed choices, that would be my advice,’ she said when asked about cosmetic work.
‘Any time you are seeking to change something semi-permanently or permanently about yourself, whether it’s a tattoo or a nose job or a bunch of filler in your face, I just think you have to make smart decisions and be informed and make educated choices for yourself and that way you know you’ve done your due diligence.’
The blonde chalked many of her facial changes over the years to natural adjustments, explaining: ‘I lost weight, you lose your braces, you learn how to wear your makeup, you learn where to shade your makeup, the right hair colour for you, the right eyebrow shape, all those things make such a huge difference.’

Dr McNally told the Daily Mail that it doesn’t seem like the model had any plastic surgery after looking at before and after photos of her.
‘She’s been rumored to have had a rhinoplasty to define her bridge but it would be unusual for a surgeon to do that without also trimming the lower lateral cartilage to help define the tip which doesn’t look like it’s been done,’ he said.
Amelia Gray Hamlin

‘I woke up in a state that I didn’t agree to. We can just say that. That also turned into a medical emergency surgery, because my breasts literally could not handle what were put in me.
‘It got to the point where I couldn’t even pump soap because the implants were pushing on the nerves. I ended up having to get a 14-hour reconstruction surgery.’
She’s also confessed to getting a nose job and using the injectable SkinVive in her lips.
Dr McNally said he also suspects that she may have had buccal fat reduction surgery.
‘This area will thin out with low body fat but the contrast is so stark from her early photos I don’t think it can be chalked up to just weight alone,’ he said.
As for her hollowed-out cheeks, he added, ‘It’s either truly impressive bony structure or filler in this area.’
