FRIDAY
2pm Half an hour after arriving by ferry from Ibiza, we’re checking in at Hannah Formentera. The boho-chic hotel sits on Migjorn Beach, with white linens and driftwood accents setting the tone (doubles from £380, hannahformentera.com).
3pm We head to the hotel’s beach restaurant and settle at a table beneath the cedar trees, sharing plates of Iberian ham (£23), Cantabrian anchovies with pan con tomate (£8.60) and tuna mojama (£18), alongside a chilled bottle of cava.
8pm Following the boardwalks that snake through the dunes, we make our way to Chiringuito Bartolo to watch the sunset with an Aperol spritz. Then it’s on to nearby Es Cupinà for dinner – the catch of the day (£29) proves an excellent choice.
SATURDAY
9am We take a peek at the hotel’s 24-hour gym, which is small but has a decent free-weights section, before opting for the next best way to raise our heart rate: a dip in the crystalline Mediterranean, steps from our room.
10am Breakfast is another beachfront affair. No sooner have we taken our seats than a spread of yogurt, granola, fruit and pastries arrives, plus an iced oat latte. Now comes the day’s toughest decision: how exactly I’d like my eggs cooked.
12pm Off to Gecko Beach Club (£43pp for a day pass, geckobeachclub.com) to spend the afternoon reclining on sunloungers shaded by blue-and-white parasols around the pool, breaking only for the occasional cooling plunge.
8pm A taxi takes us to Sant Francesc, the island’s main town, with its whitewashed church and streets lined with cafés and boutiques. We’ve booked a table at Can Carlos – reservations essential – where a lush, candlelit garden is the scene for dinner.
SUNDAY
11am We borrow two of the hotel’s electric bikes and set off to La Mola Lighthouse, perched on a cliff 120 metres above sea level. The views stretch across the Mediterranean, and we’re told it’s one of the island’s best sunrise spots.
1pm Half an hour of pedalling brings us to Es Pujols, a small town known for its sandy beaches and turquoise waters. We stop at Fandango for tomato salad with burrata (£21.50) and a Hugo spritz (£13), lingering over lunch before cycling back to Hannah.
