They have been an unstoppable force at this World Cup – with a ferocious home advantage already giving England fans nightmares.
And among Mexico’s legions of passionate supporters are a team of WAGs who have been grabbing almost as many headlines as their star players.
A troupe of influencers, fashion designers and actresses will be cheering their boyfriends, fiances and husbands on against the Three Lions at the Azteca Stadium in the early hours of Monday morning.
They will be going toe-to-toe with their opposite numbers in the England end, who have often stolen the limelight at major tournaments with their fashion choices, lavish spending and general antics.
Back at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the Three Lions’ WAGs took over the beautiful German spa town of Baden-Baden and enjoyed a party for the ages – even if their partners were having a miserable time on the pitch.
Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and Coleen Rooney were among those dropping thousands of euros on handbags by day, and dancing on tables by night, kickstarting the WAG phenomenon.
It seems current English vintage are slightly more reserved than their noughties counterparts…but how do their Mexican rivals fare?

Colombia-born Quiñones was the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League last year, ahead of superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and England’s Ivan Toney.

Sofia Toache – engaged to Edson Álvarez (defensive midfielder, plays for West Ham United but currently on loan at Fenerbahçe SK in Turkey)
Edson Álvarez, captain of the Mexico team, has major life events going on both on and off the pitch.
He is engaged to 27-year-old model and influencer Sofia Toache. The pair reportedly met through mutual friends in 2018.
When their relationship became serious, Sofia dropped out of university to follow the footballer near the beginning of his high-flying career in Europe, first with Ajax in the Netherlands and later with West Ham United in the English Premier League.
Their relationship went from strength to strength and Álvarez proposed to Sofia during a trip to Bali in 2024.
The couple share two children, but are believed to prefer to keep some aspects of their life private.
Sofia has built her own life as a content creator and boasts more than 140,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts about fashion, travel and glimpses of her life with Álvarez.
Alvarez found himself surplus to requirements at West Ham and was loaned to Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK for the 2025-26 season.
However, they are not expected to take up the chance to make his move permanent, meaning the couple are likely to return to London this summer as West Ham attempt to bounce back to the Premier League after being relegated.
