‘He also comes into the experiment with an established audience,’ the source explains.
‘People had strong reactions to him on Love Island, which creates instant interest. Has he grown up? Is he truly prepared for marriage? Or will those same habits appear again?’
Zac made it to the Love Island Australia finale alongside British reality star Lucinda Strafford, though the couple split a few months after filming ended.
That past gives producers an immediate second-chance romance narrative, even as some MAFS contestants remain doubtful about his intentions.
‘The redemption arc is already there,’ the insider says.
‘His relationship with Lucinda came to an end, and now he can argue that he is older, wiser from the experience and ready to find a lasting partner.’
From a production standpoint, choosing Zac is viewed as a safer option than introducing another unknown reality television personality.
Sources claim Zac has already clashed with members of the original cast after tensions erupted at the wedding. Pictured are MAFS 2027 couple Rabbih “Rob” Harb and Sophie Vidal

Are reality stars with dramatic pasts damaging shows such as MAFS, or giving loyal viewers more reason to watch?
‘He understands the mechanics of reality television, is comfortable with the filming process and has already shown that he can carry a storyline,’ the source adds.
‘It is also a natural fit because Love Island and MAFS sit within Nine’s reality television stable. Zac is familiar to the network and brings name recognition, social media engagement and strong promotional potential.’
Whether Zac’s marriage to Milla develops into a real romance or becomes another headline-making MAFS breakdown is still unknown.
‘He could emerge as a changed romantic, a source of conflict or the season’s villain. It will depend on the match and everything that follows,’ the insider says.
‘Whatever happens, producers can be confident he will create compelling television.’
MAFS groom BANNED from intruder wedding
Although Trent enjoyed a front-row role as Zac’s best man, another close friend of the groom was conspicuously missing from the ceremony.
Former MAFS groom Chris Nield—who was matched with model Brook Crompton during the 2026 season—was reportedly BANNED from Monday’s wedding, despite his friendship with the Love Island star.

Production sources insist Chris was not excluded because of any dispute between him and Zac.
Instead, producers reportedly wanted to stop current contestants from having contact with people who appeared in earlier seasons while cameras were rolling.
‘They did not want the current cast mixing with anyone from a previous series,’ a source says.
‘Chris and Zac are close, but production made it clear that former participants could not attend while the current cast was present.’
Chris may have been kept away from the ceremony, but Zac’s early clashes with the original contestants should give the friends plenty to talk about once filming ends.
John Aiken warns viewers to expect ‘extreme’ opinions
The development follows a warning from MAFS expert John Aiken that the 2027 season will be the show’s most “extreme” yet, with TikTok culture expected to play a significant role.
Viewers who describe themselves as “terminally online” are likely to find plenty to discuss when Married At First Sight returns in 2027.
It comes after MAFS expert John Aiken warned that the upcoming season will be the show’s most ‘extreme’ yet and heavily influenced by TikTok
‘We’ve certainly got some pretty extreme views that I think you’ll see, heavily influenced by TikTok. Look out for that,’ John said

Does reality TV benefit from casting controversial personalities, or is it ruining genuine relationships?
The relationship expert and series veteran told Yahoo Lifestyle that the new season would tap into the dating debates dominating social media.
‘We’ve certainly got some pretty extreme views that I think you’ll see, heavily influenced by TikTok. Look out for that,’ John said.
When asked whether the new participants hold views even more extreme than sexist former groom Tyson Gordon, who caused outrage with his rants about ‘traditional’ values, John said viewers could expect more of the same and potentially worse.
‘They’re always tapping into these zeitgeists that are out there in the dating world,’ he explained.
‘I think every year we get a different flavour.’
Groom disappears halfway through filming
The new season has already been embroiled in controversy after one groom suddenly left the experiment midway through filming.
Daily Mail earlier revealed the participant abruptly exited following an alleged off-camera incident, leaving his bride high and dry.
The departure stunned the remaining participants, who were informed that the groom would not be returning to filming.
‘He was there one day and gone the next,’ a production insider said.
‘There was no big farewell and no opportunity to write ‘leave’ at the next commitment ceremony. Once the decision had been made, that was it.’
The exact circumstances surrounding the groom’s removal have not been disclosed.
There is no suggestion his exit was prompted by alcohol or a positive drug test.
Nine tightens its rules
Channel Nine and production company Endemol Shine Australia have introduced strict new rules designed to prevent off-camera behaviour from getting out of control.
Daily Mail recently revealed that participants are now limited to one alcoholic drink at the show’s famously explosive dinner parties.
Some couples have also been banned from keeping alcohol inside their Sydney apartments after arguments allegedly continued when the cameras stopped rolling.
‘It is because some of them drink and argue when the cameras are down,’ a source said.
‘Each couple is given a limit, and some are not allowed alcohol in their rooms. It depends on who becomes argumentative when they are drinking and who doesn’t.’
Other participants have been told they are not allowed to drink at all.
The alcohol crackdown follows strict drug-testing measures introduced for the previous season after contestants broke curfew during a rogue weekend.
