Charlie Kirk Dominates 2025 Google Searches — See What Else Was Important to Americans – RedState

The top U.S. Google searches for 2025 are in, and the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk leads the list in number of queries. The trends show that many Americans were interested in hard news that affects us all, like Kirk’s murder, the One Big Beautiful Bill, and the Schumer government shutdown in October-November.

There was also plenty of what I would call fluff, or to not sound so judgey — “less newsy” — searches. I, for one, have very little knowledge of what Labubu is or KPop Demon Hunters, but they both drew heavy search audiences.

Without further ado, here are the top five searches on the platform:

Year in Search 2025

  • Charlie Kirk
  • KPop Demon Hunters
  • Labubu
  • iPhone 17
  • One Big Beautiful Bill Act

I took the liberty of looking this up, so you don’t have to: Labubu is evidently “a little monster doll with a toothy grin” that took consumers by storm, while KPop Demon Hunters is a 2025 fanimated fantasy film from Netflix that showcases Korean pop music. I have largely missed the phenomenon of KPop, but my daughters are certainly aware of it.

The top five people, meanwhile, were dominated by this bunch, headed by the socialist menace to Manhattan, New York Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani. Perhaps many residents were searching to find out his plans so they could move out of the Big Apple before his reign begins:

People

  1. Zohran Mamdani
  2. [Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin] Tyler Robinson
  3. [Singer] d4vd [currently under suspicion in the death of his girlfriend]
  4. [Charlie Kirk’s widow] Erika Kirk
  5. Pope Leo XIV

The search engine giant made a glossy video highlighting all the seeking going on out there:

‘It’s Going to Be Huge’: Times Square Will Host Not One but Two Ball Drops for 2026

Compare the trends now to what was attracting interest one year ago, according to Google: the election, Donald Trump, the New York Times puzzle “Connections,” the New York Yankees, and then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

I suspect not many people are searching for a Kamala word salads these days.

Although looking at search trends might not seem like all that serious an endeavor, the results do show how profoundly the assassination of Charlie Kirk affected the nation. That terrible killing in many ways brought conservatives together and caused many to re-dedicate themselves to their faiths and to examine their lives. It also caused some ugly, unwelcome infighting, however, which is unfortunate.

Nevertheless, his memory and his teachings live on, as does his widow Erika, despite what an evil, politicized murderer did to him.

Notice who’s not that high on the list? Jeffrey Epstein. Although the Democrats seemingly can think of no one else in their desperate attempt to tie his gross scandal to Trump, the public — at least, according to these lists — only ranks the whole spectacle at number eight on the “Top trending US news searches” tally.

Even Nostradamus couldn’t predict what will make the list next year, because there are unforeseen events and circumstances that are certainly going to dominate the news cycle. RedState will be covering those for you as they arise, but in the meantime, have a Happy and Safe New Year.
