Democrats cheered a redistricting measure that reportedly passed in Virginia on Tuesday.
The passage gives the Democrat-controlled state legislature the ability to redraw the commonwealth’s congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Except there are already questions about whether this will stand, as we reported.
On Wednesday afternoon, Tazewell Circuit Court Judge Jack Hurley Jr. ruled that Tuesday’s referendum is unconstitutional and issued an injunction preventing the certification of the election maps. Judge Hurley has also denied any motion to stay his ruling pending appeal.
That decision will likely be appealed.

After the Vote, a Judge Just Upended Virginia’s Redistricting Plan
Democrats like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) were celebrating the passage of the Virginia referendum. But he definitely sounded concerned about the next redistricting battleground – Florida. Jeffries told the Republicans they should “F around and find out,” claiming a “DeSantis ‘dummymander'” would backfire on Republicans.

Translation? It’s cool when we do it, as in California, but it isn’t when the GOP does it.
But it doesn’t sound like he put off Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) with that lame effort. Indeed, DeSantis invited him to Florida for the battle because it would be the best thing he could do for Republicans.

DeSantis referenced Jeffries’ comments about Florida.
“‘Oh, we’re gonna go after Florida” I will pay you to come campaign!
I’ll put you up in the Florida governor’s mansion! We’ll take you fishing….There’s nothing that could be better for Florida Republicans than to see Hakeem Jeffries everywhere around this state!
“Voters will not like what they see…The door is open! The invitation is out there.
But it’s so true. DeSantis got in a little more mockery of Jeffries.
“I kinda feel bad for the guy,” he said.
DeSantis said Jeffries was always taking leftist positions, but the left still didn’t like him.
“And yet the far left hates him! They call him a Dollar Store Obama, they call him AIPAC Shakur…He tried to ingratiate himself, but they’re just not drinking the Kool-Aid!”
Oh, my, he went there.
