While most of us were focused on family and friends over Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, our heroes in the Fourth Estate found a more interesting subject. Hundreds of masked members of Patriot Front showed up to provide the dot from a laser pointer for the media to chase. According to the Telegraph channel allegedly operated by Patriot Front, some 400 members of the organization descended on Washington, D.C. to link the Trump administration to White supremacy.

Allegedly, Patriot Front is a Texas-based White nationalist group classified as such by the ADL and SPLC. It was created in the run-up to the infamous 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. A teenager named Thomas Ryan Rousseau executed a coup d’etat inside the “Vanguard America” organization by seizing its website and Discord server and declaring himself the Obergruppenführer, or whatever. After the rally, which we now know was organized and subsidized by the “anti-hate” group Southern Poverty Law Center (see SPLC Funneled $270K Cash to Charlottesville Hoax Rally Planner — ‘Manufacturing Racism’ – RedState), Rousseau rebranded the group as the “Patriot Front.” Here at RedState, we have noticed some peculiarities about this organization.

Anyway, on Saturday, Patriot Front, festooned in their distinctive uniform of blue shirts, khaki pants, tan caps, and white face coverings/sunglasses for anonymity, hopped various Metro stations in the D.C. area and headed downtown, because everyone knows that White supremacists use public transportation to avoid attention and possible conflicts, plus it’s environmentally sensitive.

Naturally, we were in outrage overload.
Massachusetts Democrat Senator Ed Markey just wasn’t having it. “We cannot be silent in the face of white nationalists marching in our nation’s capitol,” he blathered. “From Massachusetts to Washington D.C. hatred and bigotry have no place here.”
The repeated theme across media was that if Trump and others on the right don’t denounce and repudiate the Patriot Front, then we are implicitly supporting them. Whatever.
The “whatever” sentiment seems to be driving the administration’s response to the nonsense.
CNN’s Dana Bash pressed Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to denounce the Patriot Front. Refreshingly, he didn’t.
BASH: Do you condemn the Patriot Front?
BURGUM: Certainly, what they stand for is nothing I could possibly agree with, but one of the foundational principles of the US which makes democracy messy is free speech

As I pointed out above, the Patriot Front is the one alleged right-wing organization no one is interested in investigating. None of the members have been profiled. There have been no exposés on the organization. No one has shown any interest in its funding or in how it coordinates with law enforcement to drive cars without license plates and to carry members inside rental trucks not designed for passengers. None of the members have been doxxed by leftist groups. Even though Reuters and Getty Images had photographers on the subway with the Patriot Front crisis actors. There was no confrontation between the Patriot Front and the media or other passengers, and no apparent attempt to speak to any of the Patriot Front participants.
What is more telling to me is this short video.

How many of these guys are inked? Compare and contrast with the Proud Boys and other known and acknowledged right-wing groups. These guys aren’t “street fighting men.” They aren’t manual laborers or in the building trades. They aren’t ex-combat arms. They are office workers. What office? I don’t know, but they aren’t right-wing shock troops.
Musical interlude.
Burgum is right. We shouldn’t be in the business of repudiating people we aren’t allied with just because someone demands it.
More to the point, let’s compare and contrast the Patriot Front with Antifa, the George Floyd Memorial Protesters, or any anti-ICE group.
The bottom line on this protest is that a few hundred alleged White supremacists and fascists openly protested in one of the most pathetically progressive cities in America, and nothing happened. There were no attacks. There was no need for police escorts. There were no riots or shoplifting rampages.
Feelings may have been hurt. This X user is concerned about the lone black woman on this subway car.
In this remarkable image of white supremicists on a subway train in Washington I see cowards afraid to show their faces and a strong woman who shouldn’t have to put up with this shit.

That may be true, but you can’t help but notice that no one is accosting her and no one is sitting beside her. Her discomfort, if any, is strictly self-generated. All things considered, the unknown woman in Washington was one helluva lot safer than a young woman named Iryna Zarutska on a subway not filled with White supremacists.

If the left’s tent is big enough to accommodate Democratic Socialists who openly seek the overthrow of the U.S. government, anti-ICE rioters, pro-terrorist simps, and every other manner of political pathology which they do endorse, then pardon me if I don’t get upset over people I don’t support.
