The United States Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, celebrated America’s 250th anniversary on Friday, and the Japanese people joined in on the fun.
U.S. Ambassador to Japan George Glass partnered with the Japanese Defense Minister Koizumi Shinjiro, Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko, and other invited guests for feasting and America 250 festivities, culminating in a drone show and fireworks over the Odaiba area in Tokyo’s Minato Ward.
From the Embassy posts, it appears they ate quite well.
It’s not a true celebration without great food, and @Zanmai_man made sure tonight was one for the history books! 🍣 To celebrate America’s 250th, they brought in a jaw-dropping 2-meter-long tuna weighing 250kg! 🐟 @Freedom250 #A250inJapan pic.twitter.com/u6kJW70iBC

The fireworks over the illuminated bridge were epic, as the above video and the one below, reveal.
WATCH:
Eighty-one years ago, Japan was an enemy with whom we were at war. The United States dropped bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in early August 1945, decimating the nation and winning the war. Through mutual cooperation, shared partnership, and flourishing respect, our relationship with the nation of Japan was transformed, and a friendship has been forged.
There’s something to be said for peace through strength.
Many thanks to Japan for standing strong with us and celebrating America’s milestone anniversary!
