Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Spencer Pratt issued a blistering response to a report that he has been living in a fancy Bel Air hotel while campaigning.
The former reality TV star, 42, previously claimed to have been living in a trailer after his $3 million mansion burned down in the Palisades wildfires last year.
TMZ reported on Wednesday that Pratt was actually living in Hotel Bel-Air, one of the swankiest hotels in Los Angeles. The trailer is reportedly empty as his wife Heidi Montag and two children are staying in the town of Carpinteria.
The hotel charges at least $1,500 per night, and comes with amenities including a swimming pool, tennis courts and spa.
After the outlet shared their story about Pratt’s fancy living quarters, the candidate responded on X: ‘Hey guys, why don’t they wanna talk about why I need a hotel in the first place?’
‘Karen Bass let my home burn down,’ he added. ‘Also 6,000 of my neighbors. NBD.’
Pratt has made Bass’s mismanagement of the wildfires last year a central pillar of his campaign, accusing her of botching the response to the fires that killed 12 people and caused over $25 billion in damage.
He also reportedly told TMZ that he felt the need to stay at the hotel for his own safety, saying he has received death threats as his campaign gains traction.

Pratt told the outlet his trailer was not suitable to keep him safe, but the hotel has ‘its own armed security and that has become the only option.’
Referring to supporters of his rivals, Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, as ‘Bassholes and Ramaniacs’, Pratt said he has faced death threats from ‘whackos.’
‘Since I destroyed them in the debate, and am surging in the polls, they are getting increasingly desperate and hostile,’ he said.
‘I can’t talk about specific threats, but that lot is unsafe now.’
Voters in Los Angeles vote on June 2, with Pratt’s candidacy surging in recent weeks.
Raman, who briefly led the race for the mayor’s office before stumbling in the polls, drew backlash this week after referring to Pratt as a ‘fascist’ – a moniker that many felt has been overused by the left for anyone that leans conservative.
The LA City Councilwoman tried to diminish Pratt as as ‘mini-Trump,’ and said that his candidacy was a result of frustration among voters, and not his own merit.
The far-left lawmaker made the remark in an interview with Brian Tyler Cohen’s No Lie podcast, saying voter apathy is a ‘very real thing that we should take seriously and that we need to grapple with, and we need to offer it an honest response… a response that is actually rooted in solving these problems.’
Raman continued: ‘Otherwise, people will turn to fascism, to mini-Trump, which is who I think Spencer Pratt represents.’

It comes as Pratt’s odds of winning the Los Angeles mayoral race soared in recent days, and prediction market Kalshi gave him a 32 percent chance of victory compared to incumbent Bass’s 53 percent.
Just ten days ago, Raman was in the lead on the market at 53.5 percent, but she has since plummeted to just 14 percent.
Raman’s apparent plunge in popularity was blamed by many on a high-profile debate last week, where Pratt’s no-nonsense, brash debate style won plaudits.
Pratt was widely seen as the victor in the debate, with 79 percent of viewers telling NBC that they believed he won the night over Bass and Raman.
The former The Hills star has centered his campaign on criticism of Bass’s tenure as mayor, and has vowed to combat homelessness and crime across Los Angeles.
As part of his hardline platform against Los Angeles’ social issues, Pratt recently unveiled plans to implement a three-week ‘grace period’ to warn criminals, drug users and homeless people to leave the city before he takes action.
Speaking on the All In podcast he hammered home his message that the city of angels is ‘worth saving,’ and suggested that his mayoralty will begin with a brief reprieve for those committing crimes and the homeless.

‘My plan, the first three weeks, signs up across the city: no more nakedness, no more drug use, no more robbing, no worse, no more dog abuse,’ he said.
He says that his team will then go around and warn everyone that: ‘You got three more weeks of this, clock’s ticking.’
Pratt believes this will show those propagating crime in the city that ‘there’s a mayor in town’ and even make some of the troublemakers leave.
‘After that, once we start enforcing the laws: Boom! Streets will be back,’ he promised.
He also suggested that he would bring in the Centers for Disease Control to wade out the ‘medieval diseases’ living in LA’s homeless encampments.
