We’ve got some exciting news! Salem Media announced Thursday that Larry O’Connor, editor of our sister site Townhall, will the company’s national morning radio lineup starting May 4th.
Larry currently hosts O’Connor and Company every weekday morning on WMAL in Washington, D.C. That show will continue in its long-standing time slot on WMAL, but will now also serve as Salem’s flagship national morning program. The show will air on over 140 affiliates in the Salem Radio Network and simulcast on Salem News Channel.
“I love it when a plan comes together,” said Townhall Media Publisher, Jonathan Garthwaite. “From his desk at Townhall, plus radio, TV, and podcast studios, Larry is a unique triple threat of news, influence, and personality.”
From a Salem Media press release announcing the move:
For more than a decade, O’Connor has been at the center of the political conversation in Washington, with a daily radio show and podcast followed by lawmakers, White House staff, media figures, and political insiders. In this expanded role, he will help set the tone for the day’s news across Salem’s platforms, delivering timely analysis, impactful interviews, and sharp commentary to a growing national audience.
By aligning O’Connor’s leadership role at Townhall.com with his national radio and television presence—and his growing digital footprint—Salem is further strengthening its integrated, cross-platform content strategy. This move positions O’Connor at the forefront of conservative political discourse while reinforcing Salem Media’s role as a leading destination for news, commentary, and influential voices.
Phil Boyce, Senior Vice President of Content at Salem Media, said of the announcement, “Larry is the go-to media voice for the people shaping policy in our nation’s capital. He’s built a show insiders rely on and an audience that cares deeply about the direction of the country. We’re proud to expand that success across our national lineup, leading the conversation every morning across America.
“Having worked with Larry for over 10 years, he is one of the most important and impressive voices of the conservative movement, and finally bringing his tremendous morning show national, tied with our work at Townhall Media, will only make that more true as we fight to save America,” said Storm Paglia, VP of News & Operations at Townhall Media.
From a personal perspective, I am thrilled about this move. I’ve known Larry since his Breitbart and Stage Right Show (on Blog Talk Radio) days in the early 2010’s and know how hard he’s worked to get where he is today. In a business where loyalty and doing the right thing are rarely rewarded, Larry has been a loyal friend and colleague and is always willing to help people rise through the ranks while helping the conservative cause. When I visited D.C. in January 2015 with my youngest son, who was then 11 years old, to watch the swearing-in of a congressman whose campaign I’d worked on, Larry came down to Capitol Hill to pick us up, take us to lunch, and then to the studio, where my son was able to sit in with him as Larry anchored the afternoon show. All because I’d mentioned that my son was interested in radio as a potential career at some point. Here they are in studio:

For a while, Larry was broadcasting from both Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. During that time, in 2019, I was part of a group working to recall a city councilwoman in my hometown of Simi Valley after she broadcast a “Know Your Rights” video from her office, sitting in front of a defaced American flag. On his own time, and at his own cost, Larry came out to Simi Valley to speak to our volunteers before a day of signature gathering, because that’s the kind of guy he is.
Listeners around the country will now have the benefit of Larry’s insight and deep knowledge of politics, and his stellar interviews, every weekday morning and from the Salem News Channel app on demand.
