Democrats have a real mess they’ve bought by embracing Graham Platner as their presumptive nominee for the Senate in Maine. They still haven’t had the primary yet, and former Gov. Janet Mills is still on the ballot — as she reminded everyone this week. And the numbers for Platner are starting to slide away.
Meanwhile, a New York Times story dropped with a new story, with concerning allegations about heavy drinking and abuse, among other things. And they were probably going easy, as there were reportedly things they left out.

But one of the items referenced in the story was the Nazi tattoo. His former girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, claims he knew what the meaning of it was years ago — when they were dating more than 10 years ago. He claims he only found out the meaning in October of last year.
When the pair dated years ago, Platner would call the tattoo “my Totenkopf,” Fifield alleged in the bombshell report.
“I would never have known what that was,” she told the outlet. “He would joke about it being a Nazi tattoo.”
She also communicated with friends in August of last year about this tattoo, and that it was a Nazi symbol.
Platner appeared on MS NOW on Thursday night. He denied any abuse, and he claimed again that he didn’t know what the tattoo meant until October. But even Chris Hayes hit him with what Fifield said, and the corroboration of the communication with the friends. Hayes notes they know the time, in August, “How does she know it’s a Nazi tattoo in August of last year, but you don’t know it’s a Nazi tattoo in August of last year?” Hayes asks. Great question.
Chris Hayes: How is it that your ex-girlfriend was texting people that you had a Nazi tattoo in August but you didn’t know until October?
Graham Platner: They didn’t tell me that pic.twitter.com/pEHIAZJY0r

His “Well, she certainly didn’t send that text to me.” He claimed, “I certainly didn’t know…they didn’t tell me that,” he said.
Oh, come on.
Even CNN had some thoughts, as they referenced Andrew Kaczynski and his K-file report on the tattoo. Erin Burnett also noted the allegations of infidelity, heavy drinking, and demeaning behavior toward women, as well as “physical intimidation.”
CNN’s @KFile reports on evidence that undercuts Senate candidate Graham Platner’s claim that he only learned of his tattoo’s Nazi associations last year.

CNN’s @KFile reports on evidence that undercuts Senate candidate Graham Platner’s claim that he only learned of his tattoo’s Nazi associations last year. A woman who previously spoke to CNN anonymously is now going public, saying Platner referred to the image as “my Totenkopf” years before the controversy. She also provided CNN text messages showing that months before Platner says he learned the symbol’s Nazi meaning, she was discussing among her friends.
Kaczynski also pointed to Platner’s now-deleted Reddit posts, where Kaczynski says there was discussion about the meaning of the “Totenkopf” and that “he argued that some soldiers had adopted them as expressions of military culture,” and not as an expression of Nazi thought.
So not only did the ex-girlfriend say he knew, but then she’s backed up by the texts, and the Reddit posts would support that he knew.
So, at this point, why should anyone believe anything this guy has to say, in addition to having the tattoo to begin with? Not to mention all the new allegations about abuse, on top of all the undisputed vile things he’s said.
There are also reports of more out there. How willing is the left to debase itself over this guy? Apparently, a lot.
