Scott Pelley Embarrasses Himself in Wild New NYT Interview – RedState

While those of us on the sane end of the political spectrum are still chuckling over the schadenfreudalicious defenestration of Scott Pelley from CBS News, Mr. Pelley shows no signs of going quietly into that good night. Instead, he engaged in an interview with The New York Times to rage, rage, against the dying of his career, and now we are at Schadenfreude Factor Eight.

Jobless news veteran Scott Pelley broke down in tears as he claimed the hysterical tirade that got him fired from “60 Minutes” was a response to the “murders” of his “family” in a “Black Thursday massacre” at the show.

Pelley, 68, broke down several times during an interview with the New York Times as he discussed for the first time being axed from CBS News after nearly four decades at the network.

He conceded that he had been hyperbolic to accuse new network boss Bari Weiss of murdering “60 Minutes” — just to go even further, claiming it was the staff themselves that she murdered.

I’ll be guffawing the rest of the day over the “jobless” part of that, because, boy, howdy, did he ever have it coming. In case Mr. Pelley has forgotten, he was fired for cause: Among other things, what sure looks like insubordination to his new boss, Bari Weiss. Sorry, Scott, but new bosses often bring new policies and priorities along with them, and everyone who has ever been employed anywhere, from a McDonald’s burger flipper to a vice president of a major corporation, knows that one has to either get with the program or start packing up one’s personal effects.

Pelly sobs:

“It’s like your spouse being murdered,” he said at one point of the rejigging of staff with newcomers in to take charge at the show.

“No one saw the Black Thursday massacre coming,” Pelley told the paper of the network laying off senior staff, including executive producer Tanya Simon.

Everyone who saw Bari Weiss taking over CBS News saw this coming, Scott. As America’s Songwriter once penned, you don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

The Damning Detail Proving Scott Pelley Was Fired for Cause and Not Ideology – Revealed by Pelley Himself

That wind blew Scott Pelley and many of the other lefties posing as news readers at CBS right into the unemployment line. Too bad. So sad.

Look, the legacy media has always been biased. Even back in the Reagan years, they big three networks opposed the Gipper at every turn, and then there were few alternatives; there were the big national newspapers, like the Wall Street Journal and, yes, The New York Times, and there were the Big Three networks. So there was little basis for comparison. But now? Not only are there a wealth of cable and streaming news services, ranging from left to right across the political spectrum, but also alternative news sources on the internet – you’re reading one of those right now. And it’s dragging the legacy media kicking and screaming back to at least a little closer to the center.

That’s what Bari Weiss’s hiring was all about. And that’s what Scott Pelley’s firing was all about. Too bad, Scott. But at least now you have a lot of free time to do… whatever, like sobbing to the remaining leftist news networks.
