President Trump blasted Virginia Democrats’ narrow victory in Tuesday night’s redistricting referendum as a “rigged” outcome, pointing to what he views as a suspicious late ballot surge that flipped what had looked like a lead on the “No” votes into a razor-thin “Yes” win.
Posting to Truth Social, Trump railed against mail-in ballots, which leaned hard in favor of the “Yes” vote, and slammed the deceptive ballot wording that framed the power grab as a false effort to restore “fairness” to future elections.
“A rigged election took place last night in the great Commonwealth of Virginia!” the President wrote. “All day long Republicans were winning, the spirit was unbelievable, until the very end when, of course, there was a massive ‘Mail In Ballot Drop!”

President Trump pointed out that in one fell swoop, Virginia went from having some of the fairest election maps in the country to some of the most tainted in an effort to destroy election fairness. He also addressed the wording of the ballot, which was far from neutral and heavily skewed to entice more “Yes” votes.
“In addition to everything else, the language on the Referendum was purposefully unintelligible and deceptive,” he said. “As everyone knows, I am an extraordinarily brilliant person, and even I had no idea what the hell they were talking about in the Referendum, and neither do they!”
How do you rig an election? You rig the question. Look at this ballot asking Virginians to flip a 6D-5R congressional map to 10D-1R, breaking up every region of the Commonwealth. Yet the ballot says “to restore fairness.” Rigged.

The President demanded the courts step in to halt what amounts to a blatant anti-Democratic scheme to gerrymander Virginia’s congressional map and likely flip the state’s delegation from a competitive 6-5 edge to a near-total 10-1 resistance party lock ahead of the 2026 midterms.
“Let’s see if the Courts will fix this travesty of ‘Justice,'” he concluded.
Seemingly, everything was skewed in favor of the “Yes” vote. From the wording of the ballot to the usual last-minute updates that always go in one direction, to the mail-in ballots heavily favoring the Democrats and not even vaguely representative of the rest of the votes or the state’s political demographics.

Is it any wonder the President is trying to crack down on mail-in ballot fraud and the Democrats are so hell-bent on ensuring it remains intact?
As RedState Editor Bob Hoge writes, the courts “could (and should)” pour cold water on Virginia’s redistricting efforts.
“Who could change the direction of this abject political power play, which has no basis in high-minded principle but is simply a ruthless, callous, authoritarian ploy? The courts,” Hoge writes.
Former Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) similarly pressed the state Supreme Court to intervene.
“I urge the Virginia Supreme Court to rule against this unconstitutional process that will disenfranchise millions of Virginians,” he posted to X.
This wasn’t a fair fight for Virginia voters — it was a calculated Democratic power grab fueled by deceptive ballot language and the all-too-familiar late-mail-in magic that flipped the script as it so often does. Was it fraud? That remains to be seen.
But was it still “rigged”? Come on.
The courts still have the power to step in. But it’s hard to simply assume they’ll do the right thing here.
