Trump Hails America As 'Light and Glory' of the World, Caps It Off With Biggest Fireworks Display Ever – RedState

Despite the severe weather delays, despite the Democrats being downers, the America 250 celebration for the Fourth of July was one heck of an event.

The threat of severe weather delayed it, and they even had to make people leave for their own safety. But, as we reported, President Donald Trump said they would make it, and they did, putting on an amazing celebration.

“For 250 years, the United States of America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and the glory among all of the nations of the world, all over the world. They try and be like us. Nobody can be like us,” Trump said to a cheering crowd of more than 150,000 people on the National Mall who braved a thunderstorm-forced evacuation to hear the president speak in the 11 p.m. hour.

He said the Spirit of 1776 lived on within us all.

“It still roars in the heart of our nation’s capital,” Trump continued. “It still burns in the heart of every patriot, thunders through every city and town, and still lights the entire world with the glow of American liberty.”

Trump again warned about Communism, as he had during his Mount Rushmore address.

“Our warriors did not fight communism on battlefields across the world, only to have that menace rear its ugly head right back here in America. We’re not going to let it happen,” Trump continued.

“All these talks from the communists, they haven’t got a chance,” Trump said.

Trump honored veterans who had helped defend those freedoms over the many years, including Col. Paris Davis, a Vietnam War hero who helped save his comrades under enemy fire, who saluted the flag draped over the casket of Abraham Lincoln.

There was also 107-year-old Lt. Arthur Rose, who commanded 36 landing craft on D-Day, to salute the flag that was aboard the first landing craft that day that “helped defeat Nazi fascism forever,” Trump declared.

Trump also recognized Gold Star families whose family members made the ultimate sacrifice.

Trump recognized our great frontier spirit by honoring the Artemis II astronauts and Apollo 17 astronaut Harrison “Jack” Schmitt, who walked on the Moon.

This was incredible: almost 40 minutes of 851,000 individual fireworks over D.C., breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest fireworks display.
