Happy Sunday, and welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing — where we take a quick look at the week’s most viewed stories in case you missed any of them. What do you suppose caught people’s attention in yet another eventful week? Grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger if you’re so inclined) and sit down with this 21st-century Weekend Edition of your favorite (online) publication.
#1 – Trump Praises Paxton, Delivers Perfect Nickname for Talarico – Once You See It, You Can’t Unsee It — by Nick Arama
Trump praised Paxton and Cornyn. He also had a new nickname for Paxton’s opponent, Democrat James Talarico. Once you see it, you won’t be able to unsee it. Trump also bid a fond farewell to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), who Talarico beat in the Democratic primary.
“Congratulations to Ken Paxton on such a tremendous win, and to John Cornyn for having run a strong and powerful race but, more importantly, having had a truly great career.”
“His opponent, Alfred E. Neuman, may be the worst TEXAS candidate I have ever seen. A strong Open Borders advocate, he is WEAK ON CRIME, believes there are 6 genders, is insulting to Jesus Christ, will never support the Military, was a big Mask Wearer until recently, and is a Vegan who dislikes meat, not exactly a good way to be if your wanting to win an Election in Texas.”
“Jasmine Crockett, a very low IQ individual, who is no relation to the legendary frontiersman, Davy Crockett, would have been a far better choice for the Dumocrats. I will do some nice, big, beautiful rallies for Ken. Texas, this will be FUN! GOD BLESS AMERICA. President DJT”

#2 – Virginia’s Rebellion Has Officially Begun — by Teri Christoph
Several sheriffs are also joining the growing rebellion, having warned Spanberger and Virginia Democrats months ago that they were going too far with the gun ban.
Amherst County Sheriff Jimmy Ayers said of the new law, “The citizens of Amherst County have the right to bear arms as long as they’re qualified individuals to do so.” His counterpart in Campbell County, Sheriff Whit Clark said, “I believe that this is an infringement on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owning citizens.” Clark also called the law “nothing more than a gun grab.”
In a hilarious and utterly predictable move, Virginia Democrats are now clutching their pearls over the thought of prosecutors actually upholding the U.S. Constitution. These same people haven’t uttered a peep about Steve Descano, the commonwealth’s attorney of Fairfax County who repeatedly releases violent illegals back into the community.

#3 – 2028 Panic Mode: Whitmer Out, Polls Brutal for Democrats — by Bob Hoge
It’s almost shocking how dreadful that Dem field is. Kamala had the fawning mainstream media and a billion-dollar war chest backing her up and still got shellacked. Incredibly, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg leads the Democrats in the poll, but he was terrible at his job and will never live down taking two months of paternity leave while we were experiencing a supply chain crisis and Congress was busy negotiating an infrastructure bill.
Newsom has somehow been able to win over leftists in California time and time again, but he would get shredded in a debate with Vance or Rubio. Remember how he got hammered by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis when those two went toe-to-toe?

#4 – Things Do Not Go Well for Dem Senator When He Shows Up at Detention Center Amid Anti-ICE Action — by Nick Arama
Kim was telling the activists to let the agents through the blockades, saying he would make sure there were no detainees in the vehicles. Here on X.
Police reportedly had to deploy pepper spray, and carted away some of the agitators. Here on X.
And it looks like Kim may have been affected.

#5 – Boom: New Spencer Pratt Ad Leftist Calls ‘Deeply Insulting’ May Be the Best One Yet — by Nick Arama
Pratt’s opponents are likely to have a cow with the latest ad that’s going viral. This ad hits so many things about Los Angeles, even having a doctor looking like a TV doctor.
It depicts a woman, rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by her mother. The problem? She has “the Pratt.”

“Spencer Pratt is the common sense choice for Los Angeles,” the daughter proclaims. “Our leaders have failed us…Everything is worse under Karen Bass.”
The mother admits that something may have slipped through the restrictions she has on the media for the daughter: The New York Times, MSNBC, and NPR. “Maybe CNN…if we’re feeling frisky,” the mom says.
The doctor quizzes the mom, “Does she know anyone, anyone at all who thinks for themselves?” Perhaps that’s how she got it.
