Neymar's World Cup dream is over

Neymar has announced his retirement from international football after Brazil exited the World Cup against Norway on Sunday.

Carlo Ancelotti recalled Neymar to the Brazil squad after a three-year hiatus, offering the winger one final opportunity to win the World Cup.

But that dream is now dead after Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway beat Brazil in the last 16 to knock the five-time winners out.

Neymar, capped 129 times for Brazil, appeared twice at the 2026 World Cup, scoring a consolation penalty in the dying minutes of his final international appearance.

The winger broke down in tears at full-time, having given shtick to Orjan Nyland minutes prior after dispatching his penalty.
