Pep Guardiola has proclaimed that he has been 'f***ing fun' during his decade in England

Pep Guardiola heads to Wembley for the 24th time as Manchester City manager on Saturday, declaring that he has been ‘f***ing fun’ across a decade in England.

City are looking to add a third FA Cup trophy of Guardiola’s reign when facing Chelsea – which would take the Catalan to 17 major trophies at the club.

The 55-year-old joked that the FA ought to name a corporate box after him given the frequency of his trips to the national stadium and didn’t shy away from his sustained success.

Asked if he will only be truly appreciated after he’s gone, Guardiola replied: ‘They don’t need to wait when I’m leaving, they know that I’ve been fun.

‘I’ve been f***ing fun. Of course, 19 titles in 10 years is not bad.’

Guardiola counts his three Community Shields as major silverware and was then quizzed on how he will feel about a potential last visit to Wembley, as talk swirls that he is ready to call time on his City career.

‘No way, I have one more year on my contract,’ he said in a high-pitched tone, before quickly darting out of his press conference on Friday.

Two crucial members of Guardiola’s backroom staff, fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura and goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisidor, are leaving at the end of the season.

Daily Mail Sport understands that City want assistant manager Pep Lijnders to extend his contract beyond the initial year and have spoken to the Dutchman to ascertain his plans.

‘With the players, if you’re not happy you just have to knock on the sporting director’s door and get an agreement with another club,’ Guardiola added.

‘It’s the same with the backroom staff. You have to follow your dreams. You cannot stay in your comfort zone. You have to go for it. Life is too short.’
