For the third-consecutive time, the Socceroos have made the knockout phases of the World Cup.

Egypt certainly carry a threat, but this presents their best chance to claim their first knockout victory in the team’s history.

And it seems like the fans are very aware of the chance presented to the players in Dallas.

The supporters have descended upon Texas and with just over an hour until kick-off, they are certainly making themselves heard.

The familiar sound of ‘sha la la la, ohh Aussie boys’ could be heard reverberating around the walls of popular supermarket chain Walmart.

Along with the chanting, drinks were being thrown and fans were jumping up and down on the surfaces around the store.

There was also a famous face joining in with the Socceroos fans as Iggy Azalea was reportedly seen doing a shoey with supporters.

For the uninitiated, a shoey is when someone consumes a beverage, usually of the alcoholic variety from their shoe.

Some may turn their nose up at the notion of what is, quite honestly, a pretty gross tradition.

But there is no better way to mark another knockout tie, than by absolutely going for it at every possible opportunity.

And it is hard to believe that a diehard fan would turn down the chance to do so when accompanied by a global music star like Azalea.

Those celebrations are a continuation of their time at the Texas Rangers game, where a fan stunned locals by claiming a foul ball with a bare hand.

Something that isn’t often seen at a baseball game given the prevalance of gloves to help with the fielding.

In any event, that will be a fantastic souvenir for that fan, as in baseball you do not need to return the ball to the field of play.

The fans will be keen to continue the party long into the night if the players are able to use the wave of emotion for good.

It will be no easy task for Tony Popovic’s side who face an Egypt side inspired by their talisman in Mohamed Salah.

They also managed a draw with Belgium though it is worth noting that the Red Devils have failed to impress at this year’s tournament.

For the Aussies, they need to find a lot more attacking impetus having failed to score in their last two outings.

They were roundly beaten by the USA after their win over Turkiye, in a result that threatened their place in the tournament.

However, they looked far more assured in their game against Paraguay as they took home a point to secure second place in Group D.

If they can turn in that sort of confident, assured performance, they will have given themselves the perfect platform to win their first knockout tie at the World Cup.
