Teddi Mellencamp became emotional this week while revealing that her relationship with her new boyfriend had come to an end.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 45, discussed the breakup on her podcast, Two Ts in a Pod. Fighting back tears, she told co-host Dolores Catania that her 31-year-old boyfriend, PJ Conley, ended their relationship after a recent dinner date.
‘I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about this yet and I feel ridiculous that I’m even crying,’ she said.
Mellencamp said the evening had started well before Conley suggested they discuss where their relationship was headed.
‘We had a really good time at dinner, and then after dinner, he’s like, “Should we talk, you know, about the future?”‘ she recalled.
‘And I was like, “I kinda just talk day to day because, to be perfectly honest, I don’t know if I’m gonna be alive in the future. I’m just enjoying where I’m at.”‘
Mellencamp has been living with cancer since 2022, when she was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma. The disease later spread to her brain and lungs.

Although the couple had been together for only four months, Mellencamp said she had already met Conley’s parents and spoken with him every morning and evening.
‘I think four months for me is such a long time because I am living in this very weird state of my life where I don’t know myself anymore, and I’m trying to become the new me and love her too, even though she’s very different,’ she said.
She explained that Conley continued pressing for a conversation about their future as they talked after dinner.
Mellencamp said Conley told her that he liked her, praised their chemistry and said they had fun together. He also noted that his parents had been accepting of their age difference.
But she said he then delivered a painful blow: ‘And he goes, “But when I look at a future, I don’t see you in it.”‘
‘I’m taken aback at this moment,’ Mellencamp recalled. ‘I knew we were in a different place in our lives…’
She added, ‘He’s my person, he makes me feel comfortable. Also, I have issues walking and doing stuff, getting on steps, he’s helped me through all this.’
Despite the bond they had developed, Mellencamp said Conley told her he could not provide what she needed by moving the relationship forward or planning a future together.

‘I felt like whether he knew it or not, he was breathing life into me. Because sometimes I feel so sad or so sick I feel like I could just crumble. But I feel like he was giving me life,’ she said through tears.
‘But now I feel like, am I just not good enough?’
Mellencamp was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022. The cancer later progressed to stage 4 and metastasized to her lungs and brain.
She underwent surgery to remove four brain tumors and has continued receiving regular immunotherapy treatments.
After doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of survival, Mellencamp said in October 2025 that her cancer had become ‘undetectable.’
The reality star nevertheless continues to take several medications, including steroids, and has experienced hand tremors and other complications following her brain surgery.
‘I’m not good with numbers. I can’t write. It’s hard for me to see,’ she recently said.
‘All post-having-my-brain surgeries. That being said, I don’t want to keep feeling sorry for myself because that is what’s happening, and then I quit. So, I just want to feel okay being back in my skin again.’

Mellencamp announced her divorce from Edwin Arroyave in 2024 after 13 years of marriage.
The former couple share three children: Slate, 14, Cruz, 12, and six-year-old Dove. Arroyave also has a 16-year-old daughter, Bella, from a previous relationship.
At the time, Mellencamp shared a statement on social media announcing their separation.
‘After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,’ she wrote.
‘My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.
‘Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.’
