Farmer Wants A Wife stars tease 'catty' clashes, brutal curveballs and shock twists in most explosive season yet

Farmer Wants A Wife has earned a reputation as reality television’s most wholesome dating show.

However, this year’s group of country bachelors has suggested the new season could deliver considerably more drama than viewers may expect.

Speaking to Daily Mail, the five farmers previewed a series filled with “catty” clashes, surprise twists, awkward romantic moments and emotional curveballs as they look for their perfect partner.

Although the farmers maintained that they joined the show for genuine reasons, they acknowledged that not every contestant appeared to have the same intentions.

When asked whether anyone had signed up for the wrong reasons, Farmer Dylan was quick to respond: “Not me personally. I was there absolutely for the right reasons.”

Pressed on whether some of the women may have created tension, he offered a coy response: “Might have, but yeah, it’s just one of those things, you gotta navigate it.”

“I think when you can kind of get a grip on their intentions then you’re like, ‘Oh, righto,’” he added.

Farmer Wants A Wife has long been positioned as a gentler and more sincere alternative to shows such as Married At First Sight and Love Island. Still, the farmers made it clear that the upcoming season will not be short on drama.

Farmer Jarrad said the men tried to steer clear of unnecessary conflict, but revealed that producers still delivered several surprises during filming.

“Drama sucks,” he said.

“We all try and stay clear of it as much as possible, but there were definitely a few curveballs that were chucked our way over the course of filming.”

Farmer Alex then issued a direct warning to viewers tuning in for fireworks.

“For anyone that wants drama, don’t worry, there’s plenty of drama,” he said.

Dylan agreed, adding: “There is plenty. You get a little bit of it.”

One of the season’s biggest revelations came from Farmer Jason, who admitted that tensions erupted between some of the women on his farm.

Asked whether he had ever needed to break up a fight, Jason said some of the women had become “catty”.

“Yeah, I’d had some get catty on my farm,” he admitted.

Jason said the show’s unusual format naturally created tension, with the women living together while competing for the attention of the same farmer.

“I think just being in that situation, it’s not normal,” Jason said.

“You’re sort of competing as well, and you don’t really live with the people you’re trying to obviously get the attention of the farmer.”

“It’s probably just an unusual situation.”

The farmers also admitted that the emotional intensity of the experience caught them off guard.

For Jarrad, the most difficult part was dividing his time fairly between the women while knowing that some would eventually be sent home.

“That’s probably the hardest thing,” he said.

“I totally understand how difficult that would be, because you want to get to know the girls so you can make the right decision.”

“You’re trying to find the right person you want to spend the rest of your life with. There’s not actually a lot of time.”

“You’ve got a limited amount of dates. You’re trying to spread your time out evenly to make the best decision.”

Alex agreed, saying: “For every decision you make, you’re hurting the other potential four or whatever you’ve got on your farm.”

“You’ve got to navigate it really carefully.”

The farmers also experienced their share of awkward moments as they adjusted to dating while being followed by cameras.

Dylan admitted he was a “nervous wreck” when filming began and struggled with romantic moments while surrounded by the production crew.

“I found kissing really hard,” he said.

“If you lean in and it’s not reciprocated, you look a bit silly and it’s filmed.”

He warned that viewers should expect to see some of those uncomfortable encounters play out on screen.

“I was as awkward as it could get,” he admitted.

“You’ve got so many cameras in your face and then you’re trying to talk to ladies. It’s a horrible combination.”

“I think there’s going to be a few that come out.”

The farmers also teased that one of them may have fallen in love quickly.

During a cheeky game, the farmers were asked to point to the plan who fell in love the quickest, with the group appearing to single out Alex

Meanwhile, the group named Dylan as the farmer most likely to become the season’s biggest heartbreaker.

Despite the anticipated drama, the farmers insisted that viewers will also see genuine love stories develop.

Asked whether audiences could expect a real romance, Dylan replied: “Bloody oath. Absolutely.”

Jarrad added: “All of us, we’re there for the right reasons.”

“At the start, obviously having cameras on you is quite nerve-wracking and scary. I’ve never done that before.”

“But as the series went on and we got into it and got to know the girls better, we all relaxed a bit more.”

“Hopefully people see us as who we are as the series goes on.”

The farmers also developed a strong friendship behind the scenes, with Alex revealing that they have remained in contact since filming ended.

“We’re so blessed,” he said. “This group, we’ve got so much chemistry and we’ve kept in touch the whole time.”

Dylan said being able to discuss the experience with the other farmers helped him manage the pressure of filming.

“It’s a foreign experience,” he admitted. “When you can get everything off your chest with the other farmers, it’s like a big weight off your back.”

Farmer Wants A Wife continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Seven and 7Plus.
