Alexander brothers each jailed for 30 years for drugging, raping and trafficking women as victims confront siblings in court

Two of the country’s most prominent real estate businessmen and their older brother were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday after being convicted of sex trafficking offenses.

Twins Oren and Alon Alexander, both 39, and Tal Alexander, 40, were found guilty in March of 10 counts tied to a years-long conspiracy involving rape, sex trafficking, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation in Manhattan federal court.

US District Judge Valerie E. Caproni sentenced each man to three decades behind bars, likening them to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

She criticized the brothers for continuing to deny the crimes despite their convictions and rejected their request for the minimum 15-year sentence.

“I don’t refer to people as monsters because even rapists can change, but your conduct was monstrous,” Caproni said.

The closely watched trial in March featured testimony from 11 women who said they were victims of the brothers. Jurors were shown explicit photographs and messages, as well as a video of an alleged sexual assault so graphic that it nearly caused one juror to cry.

Several victims wept as they addressed the court before Caproni imposed the sentences on Tuesday.

One woman, who uses the name Maya Miller, told the judge through tears: “I stand here not only for myself but for every voice that Tal and his brothers have tried to silence. Your Honor, this is a life sentence I never asked for.

“This remains with me long after this. I carry a quiet funeral inside me.”

Another victim, who identified herself as Katie Moore, said: “These men spent years treating women and girls as though our lives, bodies, voices and humanity meant nothing. But we are not disposable, and they are not untouchable.”

The three brothers were arrested in 2024 and have remained in custody without bail ever since.

The men were seen smiling in court during the hearing. Their parents and wives, who had regularly attended the trial, were not present.

The only family member in attendance was their older brother, Niv, who has not been accused of wrongdoing.

Prosecutors said the brothers began sexually assaulting women as early as 2001 or 2002, when they were still in high school.

According to the government, they later developed a pattern of drugging and raping women they persuaded to accompany them on luxury trips.

“The defendants felt empowered to take whatever they wanted from any woman or girl who agreed to get on a plane, go to a party, or sit at their table at a nightclub,” prosecutors said.

Once the assaults began, prosecutors said, the brothers “seemed to prefer” situations in which women protested, struggled to escape or were left motionless before them.

Eleven women testified during the trial. Many said they were raped or sexually assaulted after becoming disoriented and losing control of their bodies following drinks given to them by one of the brothers.

Prosecutors said at least 70 women had been raped or sexually assaulted by the men, describing the brothers in a court filing as “serial rapists.”

Although the brothers continue to maintain their innocence, their lawyers asked the court to impose the minimum 15-year sentence on each of them.

Defense attorneys said the brothers apologized to women they had insulted or offended for behavior they acknowledged was “insensitive toward the feelings of certain women at certain times.”

Caproni had previously said she believed the brothers should not be housed in the same prison because they had exerted a negative influence on one another.

The brothers’ parents, Orly and Shlomi Alexander, urged the judge not to sentence their three sons to spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

In a letter obtained by Our News Outlet, the parents asked the judge to consider the “whole lives” of their convicted sons, arguing that they were devoted fathers, loving husbands and charitable men who deserved the opportunity to return home and raise their children.

Alon’s wife, Israeli model Shani Zigron, 30, made a similar appeal. She described him as a gentle and attentive father who changed diapers, prepared breakfast for their daughters and treated her with “care, respect and gentleness” during their marriage.

Oren’s wife, Brazilian model Kamila, said his arrest while she was nine months pregnant left her “traumatized,” forced her to raise their baby alone and ended her once-successful modeling career.

Character statements submitted ahead of Tuesday’s sentencing also highlighted volunteer work the brothers performed as teenagers, including helping children with special needs, in an effort to persuade the judge to impose lighter penalties.

Prosecutors sought life sentences for all three men. Federal probation officials recommended 195 years for Oren and 180 years each for his twin Alon and their older brother Tal.
