Beyoncé’s former stylist Ty Hunter has shared his reaction to the singer’s brief wardrobe mishap at Sunday’s Grammy Awards.
The 43-year-old performer took the stage at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on February 2 after winning Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter.
Beyoncé wore a custom Schiaparelli gown for the occasion, but eagle-eyed viewers spotted what appeared to be an underwire protruding from the dress’s low-cut design, creating an awkward moment.
“Things happen, though. It’s still a beautiful dress, and it was just that moment,” Ty, 52, told DailyMail.com exclusively at the Blue Jacket Fashion Show in New York City, two days after the ceremony.
The creative director praised his former client’s striking look, along with Willow Smith’s ensemble—“the hair, the grill, all of that was beautiful”—and Taylor Swift’s outfit as she presented Beyoncé with the award.
“I loved what Taylor Swift had on,” Ty said, referring to the singer’s glittering red Vivienne Westwood dress, complete with a ruby “T” leg chain.

Ty also reflected on styling Beyoncé—who attended the Grammys with husband Jay-Z and their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy—for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. At that ceremony, she wore a short red Roberto Cavalli dress.
“I was so proud of her being able to give Bey the award, and of her wearing a red dress,” Ty recalled. “Because I dressed Bey in a red dress when she actually gave Taylor Swift that moment—when Taylor won an award. So to see that transition… It was beautiful.”
The reference was to the unforgettable incident in which Kanye West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video.
Ty, who worked with Destiny’s Child and served as Beyoncé’s stylist for more than 18 years, reportedly stopped working with the superstar well before 2019.
Among his most recognizable work were Beyoncé’s Dangerously in Love album cover and the “Crazy in Love” music video—looks he has previously described as some of his favorites.
In a 2023 interview, the author of Makeover from Within: Lessons in Hardship, Acceptance and Self-Discovery explained why he walked away from the career that transformed his life.
“When my daughter turned 21, the next day, I just realized all the things that I missed.
“I missed birthdays. I missed, you know, celebrations, funerals and things like that with family. So, it was just a time of really stepping out on faith,” he told TheGrio.

“And even though I had the dream job that everybody wanted, I also wanted to do other things. And, you know, I was of age and I had put in so much time.
“So, I just stepped out on faith, and I’m glad I did because I learned so much more about myself.”
Beyoncé now works with stylist Shiona Turini, whom Ty described to DailyMail.com as “amazing.”
These days, Ty said he is focused on “dressing myself,” pursuing projects beyond fashion and taking on more television work while continuing to learn about himself.
On February 4, he joined fellow celebrities at the ninth annual Blue Jacket Runway Show in New York, an event supporting awareness and fundraising efforts for nonprofit advocacy group ZERO Prostate Cancer.
Still proudly part of the BeyHive, Ty walked the runway in a blue Tommy Hilfiger outfit as Beyoncé’s hit “***Flawless” played.
Other stars taking part in the New York fashion event, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, included Bill Nye, Don Lemon, Mario Cantone and Nigel Barker.
Lemon, meanwhile, drew attention by poking fun at Kanye West and Bianca Censori’s headline-making Grammy appearance, including Censori’s revealing red-carpet outfit.

Lemon made it clear he was referencing West, 47, and Censori, 30, when he appeared on the runway in a long midnight-blue overcoat worn open.
The outfit recalled the oversized black fur coat Censori wore when she arrived at the Grammys. She later dropped the coat to reveal an extremely sheer dress that left little to the imagination.
Near the end of the runway, Lemon turned around and slid the overcoat down his arms as though he were about to let it fall, mirroring the couple’s much-discussed red-carpet moment.
“Anybody know what I’m doing?” Lemon called out to the crowd after allowing the coat to slip nearly to the floor.
“Kanye’s wife,” he added, clarifying the joke before pulling the jacket back into place and walking back down the runway.
