Summer may be here, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hunker down and dig into some new Netflix films and TV shows. From spending a rainy day huddled inside, or killing time on the plane en route to a holiday destination, there’s plenty of opportunity to get bingeing something new on Netflix.

And with July’s blend of long-awaited sequels like Enola Holmes 3 and devastating documentaries including Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea, we’ve got your summer watchlist sorted.

Enola Holmes 3 – 1 July

The third film in this mystery drama takes detective Enola Holmes (played by Millie Bobby Brown) to Malta to solve her most dangerous case so far. All the while, her romance with Lord Tewkesbury (played by Louis Partridge) reaches new heights. This film is highly anticipated and features a star-studded cast including Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter.

Worst Neighbor Ever – 1 July

Think your neighbours are bad? Think again. Follow firsthand accounts of nightmare neighbours including violence and harrassment as shown through testimonies, camera footage and reenactments. This true crime docu-series is sure to leave you double-checking that you locked your front door.

Little House on the Prairie – 9 July

A wholesome adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s semi-autobiographical Little House books. Following the close-knit Ingalls family as they build their new life on the Western frontier, this series will explore aspects beyond the books, including a family of Indigenous people.

Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea – 10 July

This documentary film shows unseen archival footage of the Costa Concordia cruise that sank in 2012 after hitting a formation of rocks in the Mediterranean Sea. It also includes firsthand accounts in what Netflix describes as an ‘immersive’ documentary, recounting the moment and aftermath in which disaster struck.

The Hawk – 16 July

Created and starring Will Ferrell, this series follows Lonnie ‘The Hawk’ Hawkins, a number one golfer set on one last sporting triumph as he tries to relive his glory days. The series will see Ferrell battle for the Golf Grand Slam against his number one opponent, and son.

Heartstopper Forever – 17 July

Heartstopper Forever is the finale film to conclude Netflix’s three-part series adaptation of Alice Oseman’s comic books. The final tale in this coming-of-age story sees Nick (played by Kit Connor) prepare for university, putting his relationship with Charlie (played by Joe Locke) up against its biggest challenge yet. The film features iconic British actors including Anna Maxwell Martin as Nick’s mother.

A Toxic Love Story – 22 July

This nail-biting documentary follows a newlywed couple in California who, after receiving anonymous threatening emails, find themselves talked and harrassed. With testimonial footage from friends and family, plus CCTV footage, this true crime tale of deception and fear is a must-see.

72 HOURS – 24 July

Kevin Hart stars in a new Netflix comedy that’s equal parts The Hangover and The Inbetweeners. After accidentally getting added to a group chat, the 40-year-old decides to join a three-day bachelor party in attempt to prove to his boss that he can still connect with the younger generation.
