Bianca Dye may have been brought in as a temporary host on KIIS FM’s breakfast show, but behind the scenes she is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about names at ARN.
Daily Mail understands the veteran radio presenter, 52, has impressed listeners and network insiders during her recent fill-in appearances in Sydney and Melbourne last month, following the cancellation of the Kyle & Jackie O show in March.
Sources say Dye has performed well beyond expectations.
‘Bianca has genuinely surprised people,’ one insider says.
‘Everyone expected her to do a solid job, but the internal reaction has been far more enthusiastic than anticipated.’
The strong response comes as ARN continues to consider the long-term future of its breakfast programming, with the network keeping its plans closely guarded.
Bianca Dye may have joined KIIS FM’s breakfast show as a fill-in host, but she is rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about names inside ARN
Despite the attention surrounding Dye, industry figures emphasise that the rotating group of fill-in presenters was not designed as a formal audition process.
Instead, the temporary line-up was intended to maintain audience interest while important decisions were made behind the scenes.
‘People in the industry are treating the fill-ins as auditions, but that is not necessarily how ARN sees them,’ another source claims.
‘The key conversations are taking place elsewhere.’
Those discussions are believed to be led by ARN chief executive Michael Stephenson, who insiders say is playing a central role in determining the network’s next major move.
Several high-profile media figures are reportedly being considered, with multiple conversations already under way.
The brief, however, extends well beyond finding a conventional radio presenter.
‘The right person will need to be more than just a radio host,’ a source familiar with the talks explains.

‘They are looking for someone with television experience, radio credibility and podcasting success.
‘ARN wants a personality capable of building an audience across every platform.’
The approach reflects the broader transformation of the media industry, as networks increasingly seek personalities who can generate engagement beyond traditional radio.
It also comes amid continued speculation about a possible closer relationship between ARN and Nine Entertainment — rumours that persist despite neither company making a formal announcement.
Although any potential move remains unconfirmed, insiders say a future alignment would make versatile, cross-platform talent even more valuable.
‘Everyone is searching for personalities who can work across television, radio, streaming and podcasts,’ one source says.
‘That is the direction the industry is taking.’
For the moment, ARN is keeping its plans under wraps.
Bianca Dye may have won over fans and emerged as an unexpected favourite, but insiders caution that the network’s most important decision has yet to be made.
With some of Australia’s best-known media personalities reportedly involved in ongoing discussions, the contest to become KIIS FM’s next breakfast star is far from settled.
Dye has combined a three-decade radio career with television work, including a role as an entertainment reporter on Mornings with Kerri-Anne Kennerley during the mid-to-late 2000s.
She also appeared on Beauty and the Beast, Thank God You’re Here, Ready Steady Cook, Celebrity Dog School, Celebrity Singing Bee and Australia’s Brainiest.
Radio, however, has been the strongest part of Dye’s career. She hosted The Nitemix Across Australia in the late 1990s before becoming a foundation presenter at Nova 96.9 in Sydney.
Among her other roles, Dye has presented breakfast programs at i98FM, 92.5 Gold FM, 97.3 FM and, most recently, Sea FM 90.9.
Her Bianca, Ben & Lakey breakfast show on Sea FM was axed in October 2023.
In 2025, Dye became a fan favourite on Nine’s dating series The Golden Bachelor.
